Producer / Meteorologist

Job Description

NewsNation is looking for a television producer and meteorologist responsible for the preparation of national weather segments and associated high-end computer weather graphics. The position is based in Chicago. The producer is responsible for supporting the on-air weather talent and must be able to handle video and graphics for multiple live segments each hour.

Responsibilities include:
• Producing live, breaking news coverage as weather events dictate
• Finding, clearing and producing great weather videos for the talent
• Pitching weather stories and ideas
• Working with weather teams at the 195 local tv stations and leveraging their resources, talent and content for the national broadcast
• Degree in meteorology required. AMS and/or NWA Seal of Approval preferred.
• Solid knowledge of state-of-the-art graphics systems essential.
• Thorough working knowledge of all numerical forecast guidance material distributed from the National Weather Service and other global meteorological agencies.
