Job Description
The primary role of the bureau/field producer is to coordinate and facilitate newsgathering and production of stories across platforms for News Nation. The producer oversees the production of a story: working with the correspondent and photographer to set up interviews, gather video, collect information and write stories. The producer is the liaison between the crew and the newsroom, which is based in Chicago. The position requires travel to stories including breaking news.
Primary Duties
Work with correspondent to determine news of day, pitch stories across platforms, conduct research, develop sources, arrange interviews and shoots
Producer must also be able to scout locations and secure permission for shoots and or live shots
Experience and comfort as a multimedia journalist to serve as a second camera on shoots or break off and gather additional elements
Producer should be able to log video and interviews quickly and accurately
Producer should be able to write and craft draft scripts
Serves as the point-person and liaison with the newsroom so the reporter can focus on gathering, writing and storytelling
Works with the reporter on enterprise and future stories
Develops and maintains contacts and relations in bureau city
Ability to assist with booking travel
Qualifications:
3-5 years working in broadcast or digital news in a role that includes: writing, research, experience in the field
Strong editorial judgement
Ability to work well with others
Multimedia/digital journalism skills: shooting, non-linear editing, file transfer (Latakoo)
Knowledge of the Texas and the Southwest United States
Salary for this position is $70,000 - $150,000.

Ability to travel for work, often with no prior notice
BA/BS degree in journalism preferred, or equivalent work experience
Strong communication skills
