NewsNation is a national news cable network currently reaching 75+ million television households across the United States. The network is owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group (NXST).

NewsNation is looking for an experienced Broadcast Operations Manager to help build and lead, broadcast operations for national newscasts, based in our Chicago headquarters.

This opportunity is for someone that doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves to help build the fastest growing 24-hour news network out there. Someone who regularly exceeds expectations and is obsessed with creating and improving standard operating procedures. You'll be responsible for managing day-to-day operations in control rooms and studios, and a newsroom filled with a talented and eager team.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
• Manage day-to-day broadcast operations for NewsNation – including creating and implementing quality standards for all control room and studio staff and liaising with field crews.
• Collaborate with Nexstar & NewsNation operations and engineering teams to verify/ensure technical requirements of the control room automation, equipment, and studios are met
• Oversee and maintain technical aspects of all studios, feeds rooms, and control rooms, including maintaining their functionality and professional appearance
• Help create and implement standard operating procedures.
• Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for budgeting/planning purposes.
• Support bureau photographer and reporters.
• Manage NewsNation TOC to improve acquisitions between affiliates
• Administer annual performance reviews with staff.
• Identify and mentor top performers

10-15 years of proven leadership, managing broadcast operations teams and studios (newsroom experience strongly preferred).
• Extensive knowledge in Ross control room automation, cameras, non-linear editing systems, ENG video playback and ingest systems, media management, and news acquisition equipment is strongly preferred.
• Experienced working with and managing union employees in a collective bargaining environment.
• Strong attention to detail
• A good person that treats employees well and holds people up so they can meet or exceed the Nexstar standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours is necessary.
