Senior Engineering Manager, Observability
Netflix
Los Gatos, CA
Our continuous growth has also made for exciting times when it comes to procuring and managing technology across the company. In response, the Strategic Technology Sourcing (STS) team is leading the centralization of hardware and software sourcing. To that end, STS is partnering with numerous Netflix Studio partners to provide technology procurement, IT asset management and technical program management services for select creative software tools of critical importance to the Netflix Studio workforce. And that's where you come in.
STS is in search of a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive our centralization strategy for our growing catalog of creative software being used by various Studio partners. This includes users within Animation, VFX and Post Production. Today, our creative software catalog includes a wide array of tools and publishers: Adobe, Avid, Foundry and Evercast (just to name a few). In addition to possessing subject matter expertise in understanding the use cases and context for creative software, the TPM serves as the informed captain for managing the vendor relationships as well as for bringing partners together to ensure Netflix is getting the most out of these investments.
Your intended impact
• Here's more context regarding the strategic objectives of the TPM followed by the skills and background we're after for this role.
• Paved Path awareness.
One of the prime responsibilities of the TPM is to make sure Netflix Studio teams are aware of our Paved Path program for identifying, evaluating and procuring creative software. This will not only include the sharing of program information and context (reference docs; guidance; artifacts, etc.), but also taking a more proactive posture when it comes to educating creative teams about the value adds of the program.
• Intake Management. The TPM will serve as a central point of contact for teams to explore, initiate requests for, and evaluate new software tools. This will include managing the backlog of requests to ensure a good prioritization scheme is followed as well as to keep workflows efficient and user-friendly.
• Partner Coordination. Depending on the nature of the software request, different cross-functional partners will need to be engaged along the way. The TPM will act as the ''connective tissue'' to engage and drive collaboration, as well as to help unblock obstacles impeding projects.
• Catalog Maintenance. The core system of record for the Creative Software program will be the Creative Software catalog. The TPM will ensure its currency as well as its accessibility to Netflix teams leveraging this resource.
• Feedback Loop. Integral to the success of the program will be maintaining a healthy feedback loop between all customers, partners and collaborators. The TPM will facilitate the collection of feedback (both structured and unstructured) to ensure the program is yielding intended outcomes as well as satisfying the experience expectations of our creative teams. The TPM will be responsible for structuring and implementing continuous program improvements based on this feedback.
• Vendor Management and Advocacy. The TPM will also serve as a key point of customer contact for our Studio software vendors. The TPM will leverage these relationships to help advocate for product and licensing changes that support the business goals of our creative teams.
Your Skills & Experience
• At least 4 years of applied experience managing Studio software vendor relationships, subscriptions and service agreements (e.g., Adobe, Avid, Foundry and Evercast)
• Strong and relevant program or project management skills within a technology services team context (preferably at a company with a distributed creative workforce)
• Exemplary facilitation skills when it comes to managing communication and priorities with multiple partners and stakeholders (e.g. product advisory groups or organizing vendor QBRs)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g. able to draft memos, reference documentation and flow charts to explain business workflows)
• Experience leading projects that include the implementation and/or integration of creative software products (e.g. working with vendors and internal technical teams to enable self-provisioning for a specific creative software tool)
