Job Description
Studio Virtual Production Supervisor (Production Innovation - UCAN)

As Netflix looks forward into the future of production, virtual production will exist as a core tenant, enabling Netflix unique roster of creatives with breakthrough real-time technologies & dynamic new collaborative workflows. Netflix is seeking an experienced candidate to join as a Studio-side Virtual Production Supervisor for the United States & Canada content slate.

Netflix maintains a broad definition of Virtual Production that leverages real-time technologies as a means towards creative problem solving and an approach to production that connects all parts of the production process (pre through post). The global Virtual Production department leads the strategy for enabling the utilization of real-time workflows in production at scale, with a focus on assessing content opportunities that service creative development. The Virtual Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing creative engagements early in development (pre-green light) through production across a slate of series and feature titles, inclusive of transmedia content opportunities across Marketing, Animation, and more. The VProd Supervisor will be the primary point of contact for cross-functional partners in Creative, Physical Production, VFX, and Post and peer teams in technology, infrastructure, partnerships, and outreach across the Production Innovation group.

A successful candidate has strong communication/presentation skills, is calm under pressure, self-motivated, flexible, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with an unwavering attention to detail at all times. The team seeks passionate leaders and creative problem solvers with a pulse on the latest technology workflow developments across the industry. Through direct communication with filmmakers, production companies, technology providers, and vendor partners, this individual requires the ability to provide strong creative and technical assessment of creative scope on content early in development to best-fit valuations for virtual production techniques. Applicants should be willing to embark in blue sky science, gazing into the future of filmmaking, while determining practical applications that can apply back to Netflix's core production offerings.

Responsibilities
• Work directly with Director of Virtual Production and key Creative Executives to oversee the early development (pre-greenlight), R&D, and Pre-Production of a demanding slate of local and outbound UCAN titles across live-action series, features, and unscripted.
• Develop and present production evaluation breakdowns and back-of-napkin budgeting from early script, boards, and previsualization to identify what virtual production techniques, if any, are best cast onto the title based on the creative stakeholders, vendors associated, and budget allocated.
• Cultivate key business relationships with vendors, production service companies, and technology providers providing virtual production services.
• Consult and collaborate with Digital Production Executives on the production execution of titles leaning into technically complex titles (ie. LED Volumes, performance capture, simulcam, volumetric capture) - supporting budgeting, scheduling, and preparation.
• Identify and pair emerging technologies in the market with new content opportunities.
• Support title management teams in the casting of virtual production talent and vendors onto titles.
• Inform internal virtual production technical roadmap stakeholders across imaging, camera, and real-time technologies with production expertise.
• Collaborate with teams that support a global workflow process that enables scalable operations and information sharing.

Requirements:
• A strategic problem solver with recent demonstrable production experience working in virtual production across live-action, animation, and/or gaming.
• Live-action on-set experience is preferable.
• Big-budget visual effects perspective is beneficial, but not required.
• A sincere passion and entrepreneurial spirit for enabling the democratization of real-time technologies and workflows through the content adoption of virtual production.
• Experience and comfort working directly with Studio Executives, Director/Showrunners, Production Designers, Directors of Photography, VFX Supervisors, Post Supervisors, and Line Producers is critical.
• Non-UCAN production expertise and management is valuable.
