About the Role:
We are looking to hire a creative self-starter who lives and breathes entertainment and has an innate passion for Japanese entertainment and pop culture, to help share our exciting content slate and stories from Japan with the rest of the world. The Japanese Content Publicity Specialist plays an important role in shaping perceptions about Netflix and its stellar Japanese slate through creative and innovative PR campaigns as well as their work supporting the wider Publicity- and cross functional teams.
Reporting to the Japanese Content Publicity Lead - Export, the role is required to have strong cross-functional interactions with an ability to build and maintain a close rapport with internal and external partners -- working as a liaison between Country and Regional Publicists, Photo and A/V Studio, Marketing, Content, Social, Awards, and other groups to infuse stories about our Japanese content into their efforts.
The work:
• Devise and coordinate innovative PR campaigns for our ever growing-slate of Japanese content to drive our business and reach new and existing fans outside Japan
• Build relationships and work well with both internal cross-functional teams to realise successful, impactful and best in class campaigns as well as with external partners, talent representatives and media/press partners as required
• Write press releases and editorial plans based on key value-driven narratives
• Plan and coordinate publicity-driven efforts like set visits, press days and talent interviews, convention appearances and more
• Work closely with internal publicity country teams and their local agencies to implement campaigns on the ground and in priority markets across the globe
• Maintaining day to day admin tasks as required; including but not limited to assisting with talent travel and interview schedules, supporting press events, coordinating with outside agencies and vendors, assisting with meetings, putting together presentations and reports, Newsroom updating and more.

• Scrappy, resourceful and relentless in trying to find a solution before escalating issues and able to anticipate potential problems and know when to ask for help
• Poised, not scared to speak up with the team, and mature
• A proactive and positive thinker and a contributor to the team
• Able to function effectively as a part of a loosely coupled but highly-aligned team
• Effective in dealing with global PR agencies, talent reps and internal executives
• A great communicator - via email, by phone, in person - and simultaneously
Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in a field of entertainment PR, inhouse/studio or agency setting
• Ideally someone who understands Japan's complex entertainment landscape and stakeholders (studios, production partners, publishers & IP holders, talent reps, etc.)
• Possess a keen understanding of new and traditional media
• Be able and willing to operate in a global environment
• Be a clear and concise communicator in both English and in Japanese. Being able to speak Business level English is preferred.
• Have experience coordinating a PR campaign by working well across disciplines
• Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to move at a fast clip in an ever-changing environment
• Have experience liaising and coordinating with agencies across multiple markets, be effective in dealing with talent- and talent reps, reporters, and other media influencers
