Job Description
It's an amazing time to be joining Netflix as we continue to transform entertainment globally. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on any internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

About the Role

We're looking to hire a creative self-starter to help our PR efforts across EMEA, to ensure that we address complex issues in our content responsibly and continue to make strides to reflect our audiences by building relationships with third parties in the non-profit and academic space. You'll think strategically, be curious but cool under fire, be passionate about our content and its impact on the world, and build and maintain stellar relationships with internal and external partners.

To succeed in this role you will need:
• An entrepreneurial mindset, given the pace at which we operate;
• A willingness to think from first principles, challenge established wisdom and work well cross-functionally;
• A love of trying new things;
• High standards in everything you do;
• Effective and concise written and oral communication skills;
• To be hard-working, motivated and have a willingness to take a hands-on approach to projects;
• To be a role model of inclusion and candour (per our cultural values);
• The confidence and skills to deal with people at all levels internally and externally;

This role is designed to cover three related areas, working in close consultation with the Global Head of External Affairs, and the PR and Public Policy teams across EMEA.
• Building relationships with third-party experts - storytelling raises complex social issues, which creators/companies need expert advice in handling. This role will work to build long-term partnerships with a small number of nonprofits and academics, across a range of important issues (mental health, defining diversity and representation in the region, violence, etc.) who can act as local trusted advisors (and external advocates);
• Giving - Manage a philanthropic giving budget for the region, which could include support for industry pipeline and diversity programs; and
• Social Impact - Provide internal teams with guidance on how to execute effective social impact campaigns for local titles.

The work:
• Identify external organizations, opinion formers and academics that can advise Netflix on key issues related to our content, social impact and representation efforts.
• Partner closely with other members of the PR teams to develop narratives that highlight representation in our content, partnerships and broader contribution to the communities where we operate.
• Partner cross-functionally (in particular with Content, Creative Talent Investment and Policy) to ensure we're supporting these teams' needs.
• Effectively maintain (and use) these relationships (e.g. to help give Content expert advice or provide workshops on issues that regularly crop up).
• Find research opportunities to engage thought leaders on topics relevant to the company (e.g. white papers, academic studies, etc.).
• Ensure we handle the company's charitable efforts in the region consistently and professionally.

Requirements/The successful candidate will likely have:
• 7+ years experience in external affairs, public affairs, communications, media, journalism and/ or community outreach;
• Excellent relationship building skills;
• Ability to work proactively, independently and juggle multiple tasks at once; and
• Have a good understanding of local cultures across the EMEA region.
• The role will require frequent travel and periodic travel to other international locations once Covid-related travel restrictions are no longer in place.
