The Opportunity

This is a newly created position based in Korea or Japan and will be highly autonomous and independent. You will serve as the main point of contact for Japan and Korea's payroll and accounting functions. In this role, you have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with regional team members in Singapore and the global payroll team back in the US. This person will have the chance to manage Japan and Korea's third-party payroll vendors.

This amazing role will join the global payroll team and be responsible for the end-to-end payroll processing, including compliance, internal and external auditing, and payroll accounting for several APAC countries for Netflix. You will need to complete various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly including ad-hoc tasks with financial reporting to ensure your assigned countries' payrolls are processed promptly and accurately.

This role will allow you to manage assigned countries' projects, the full spectrum of payroll operations, and the accounting areas in operational excellence and amazing employee experience.

The successful candidate must display natural intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, and the desire to drive improvements and continuously simplify processes.

Responsibilities
• You will be working as part of the global payroll team reporting to Core Finance using the Workday System with a focus on APAC countries.
• You will own the payroll changes process and review the payroll and delivery per the approved timelines.
• You are responsible for managing the third-party payroll vendor on the output of the payroll register (including stock option plan), government agencies payments, and receipts with integrity, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the local legislation.
• According to the global payroll financial reporting and auditing timeline, you are accountable for the country's payroll journal entries, accounting reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• You are the subject matter expert on the assigned payroll-related countries, including government regulations for Netflix stakeholders and employees.
• In-depth knowledge of stock compensation and Sarbanes Oxley legislation would be beneficial.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance / Tax / Accounting (or similar field) preferred
• Preferably 8 years of hands-on end-to-end Payroll experience in either one of these markets (Korea, Japan, or Taiwan)
• Preferably 5 years of full hands-on accounting experience in preparing journal entries and reconciliations
• Knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Microsoft Excel and Word, Workday, Blackline
• You have the love of numbers and paying attention to details
• Good at multitasking and prioritizing projects
• You are adaptable and flexible to the needs of the business and maintain integrity, compliant, and accuracy to ensure payroll and accounting are correct
• Strong written and verbal communication in Korean and/or Japanese.
• English fluency is required
