Netflix is building in-house Post Production Facilities and Services in order to support the ever-growing volume of Original Content we are producing. The Studio is focused on delivering the very best levels of service and creative experience to our filmmakers and creative executives. Our Post Production Facilities and Operations team is charged with the Operational Management of these services and spaces, and will be recruiting a team of talented and dedicated individuals to ensure success.

The Role

We are building Animation Studios in Burbank and Hollywood for our Original and Adult Animation production, and we are providing in-house facilities for Dialogue Recording, Dialogue Editing, Music Editing, and talent facing client concierge services. We are looking for an experienced Dialogue Recording Engineer with a comprehensive knowledge of Animation Sound Post Production, to join a team of highly skilled creatives and technicians to collaborate closely with our in house Productions, ensuring an unparalleled creative experience for our filmmakers. The Dialogue Recording Engineer must be proficient in tracking, monitoring and mixing all audio sources during recording sessions, including dialogue, music, and sound effects. This person is expected to work with the production team in maintaining Netflix's high standards of audio production for all studio shows, and will have proficiency in the use of all studio equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, including but not limited to: audio mixing consoles, outboard equipment, recording software, audio formats and delivery servers, microphone and signal flow, intercom devices, remote recording hardware and software, etc.

Responsibilities
• Set up and engineer dialogue recording sessions, including production dialogue, scratch dialogue, and ADR
• Engineer remote dialogue recording sessions via Source Connect and video conferencing platforms
• Liaise with our Client Services team to provide an unparalleled creative experience for our filmmakers
• Work closely and partner with Script Supervisors, Editors, Voice Talent, Producers, Writers and Directors
• Collaborate with other members of the Sound Operations team to design, implement, and maintain in-house recording facilities
• Ensure project and media files are backed up and archived
• Notify appropriate Production Staff of any lines lacking clarity or containing potential quality issues
• Ensure deadlines are consistently met and communicate progress of work to supervisors and to appropriate production staff
• Collaborate with our sound editors to help maintain the Dialogue, Music and Sound Effects database
• Help establish and support Sound Department workflow processes and procedures
• Provide support in the development of proprietary sound production software
• Ensure that content security protocols are followed at all times

Qualifications
• 5+ years experience as an in-house recording engineer tracking dialogue for animation (series and features)
• Expert-level understanding of animation audio production processes and pipelines
• Advanced knowledge in Avid Pro Tools HD, audio plugins, control surfaces, D/A and A/D converters, clocks, analogue and digital outboard equipment including mic pre-amps, compressors, equalizers, and other standard recording studio hardware, and restoration software (Waves, Izotope RX Advanced, Melodyne, etc)
• Excellent knowledge of microphones and mic-placement skills
• Excellent knowledge of Equalization, Compression and Noise Reduction
• Understanding of immersive mixing formats, including Dolby Atmos
• Experience in ADR workflows; dialog replacement, group, and animation production
• Have an ear for quality and strong audio aesthetic sensibilities
• Knowledge of speaker calibration and room tuning
• Comprehensive understanding of audio signal flow principles, control surfaces and audio best practices
• Proficient at multitasking in a highly complex and diverse production environment
• Highly self-directed; able to manage and (re)prioritize multiple concurrent and competing challenges and issues
• Comfortable identifying and developing solutions that improve the filmmaker client experience
• Musical training a plus
• Knowledgeable in centralized storage systems
• Experience working in a high-security environment, focusing on content protection
• Teammate, flexible and collaborative
