Job Description

Content Engineering builds the products and services used by our internal and external creative partners producing and managing our global content. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale.

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our Studio Media Engineering group. You will grow a team of engineering managers and engineers in Warsaw to develop and implement technology that enables the efficient ingestion and delivery of media assets. To do this, you will need to partner with engineering teams across Netflix as well as work closely with X-functional partners (Production Executives, Product Managers, Designers, and Post-Production stakeholders), across geographies and timezones.

What You Will Do:
• Smartly invest in studio media architecture to meet the fast-changing needs of content production.
• Demonstrate consistent curiosity in the studio media management workflows and contribute towards the broader Studio strategy and goals.
• Develop an engineering culture that cares deeply about helping stakeholders in alignment with Netflix's culture.
• Position yourself as a thought leader with stakeholders and build trusting partnerships with Product Managers and Business leaders.
• Understand the business and build domain expertise in functions relevant to your systems.
• Set clear expectations and provide clarity through periods of ambiguity in the software development life cycle, and inspire the team toward timely execution and delivery.
• Hold a high bar in hiring and retention, and coach, mentor, and grow the next-line Managers

Qualifications:
• Extensive experience in building and managing high-performing teams
• Previous experience with Media Engineering is preferred
• Strong understanding of distributed media systems and architecture
• Experience building software systems for media production and/or distribution workflows is strongly desired
• Familiarity with media production workflows, associated technologies, and industry standards
• Proven experience building and leading exceptional software engineering teams, that works with stakeholders and engineers across geographies and timezones
• Tenacity and the ability to balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders and programs
• Passion and curiosity to learn and contribute towards the broader Studio strategy and goals across Netflix.
• Deep empathy and connection for stakeholders and their business goals
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
