Director, Business Development - India & South Asia (based in Mumbai, India)

In building and scaling our business in India, we have established a number of partnerships with mobile, broadband, and payTV networks and smartphone/smart TV manufacturers that help us deliver our service worldwide in a consumer-friendly way, e.g. enabling access to Netflix on your favourite devices, or allowing payment through your mobile bill. These partnerships have been essential to accelerating Netflix's expansion in India. We are looking for a Director of Business Development to build and maintain partner relations, form the strategic roadmap for these partnerships, execute commercial deals, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of these partnerships. In addition to these responsibilities, the Director of Business Development will sit on the India Leadership Team, a cross-functional forum of leaders responsible for strategic alignment across the India business, and represent the product organization.
The role will report to the VP, Business Development, Asia Pacific.
Responsibilities:
You will forge and manage our partnerships with ISPs, PayTV operators and mobile telecom operators in India and South Asia, building out the partnerships and working with colleagues in Product and Marketing to find new ways to drive Netflix membership and viewing in an efficient manner.
You will also look to develop these relationships into new territories where the partners operate, using Netflix's global scale to create growth efficiently.
You will explore new relationships in these territories and in new territories that can help drive membership and viewing in an efficient manner, and that can be scaled across multiple territories.
You will also manage relationships with consumer electronics manufacturers across South Asia to ensure we get the most out of these partnerships in terms of maximizing viewing for our members and winning new members in an efficient manner. You will work with BD, Product, and Marketing colleagues in the US on global relationships with these partners, and with marketing and product teams at the country level.
The ideal candidate:
Strong Netflix culture fit
15 years minimum experience in Business Development and partnerships with a technology or media company
Experience in partnering with the telecom operator, pay-TV, ISP, consumer electronics, consumer internet, or adjacent industries
Deep understanding of streaming video landscape and appreciation for consumer behaviour
A background in product management/development is a plus
Understanding of, and ability to work closely with, marketing and product teams
Ability to work with cross-functional leaders
Passion for managing international partnerships
Experience with drafting, negotiating, and closing term sheets and contracts
Strong performer with high-level of self-organization and prioritization abilities
Prepared for significant travel (health and environment permitting)
