Do you love movies and TV shows? Are you interested in sharing unique content with viewers around the world? We are seeking an entertainment-savvy Japanese language analyst to join the APAC Editorial team at Netflix and help categorize television series, specials, and movies for our 150+ million users. You will be tagging, rating, researching, and enhancing metadata for the Netflix catalogue primarily originating from the Japanese market in a high-volume, high-quality, deadline-driven environment. In addition, you will collaborate on special projects with cross-functional business partners, while striving to deliver delightful, trustworthy user experiences on a global scale.

The ideal candidate has a deep and broad knowledge of Japanese content, especially Anime and is passionate about media & global entertainment in general. The candidate would also be familiar with trends and have knowledge on Manga, video gaming, webtoons etc. Must be able to communicate and write efficiently in English and Japanese with attention to detail. Proven proficiency in writing and editing creative content in English a plus. Should be comfortable using a variety of publishing tools, and is thoughtful in the delivery of information while working on diverse content within an eclectic team. This role will demand daily communication with teams in California.

Responsibilities:
• Watch, research, rate, tag, and write analysis reports for movie and TV content
• Quality assurance review of content metadata
• Timely and efficient completion of all projects
• Being aware of historical, political, social or sensitive issues from Japan including a keen eye on current affairs, and able to flag them appropriately
• Being a strong advocate for the core team in California, while also building successful partnerships in region is a key aspect of this role
• Multitask, self-direct and self-manage day-day aspects as well as other editorial projects that require cross-functional collaboration
• Develop a deep understanding of the content market and able to provide metrics and other guidance for the region
• Understand and successfully interpret the business strategy for the region
• Ability to quickly master internal tools and systems, and fluency in Excel, Airtable, Google Sheets and other data trackers and management systems a plus

Qualifications:
• Native level fluency in Japanese and English a must
• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in similar roles in entertainment or other media
• Must have an expert understanding of Anime from Japan and other parts of the world
• Passion and familiarity with Video gaming, Manga, webtoons a plus
• Passionate about movies and TV with a deep knowledge of Japanese entertainment industry and the global TV and entertainment market
• Keen understanding or interest in Japanese culture and history, including current affairs
• Knowledge of and passion for pop culture and new media trends
• Ability to distinguish nuances within different movie and TV genres and distill the essence of a movie/show, including sharing findings in a concise manner
• Demonstrated excellent cross-functional skills in previous roles, including presentation skills
• Strong leadership, time management and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and self-manage projects that require cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to meet tight, dynamic deadlines in a fast-moving, professional environment
• Ability to remain objective and deliver constructive analysis of content
• Experience working with large data catalogues a plus
• Experience managing teams or individuals a plus
