Job Description

Responsibilities:
• The Vice President, Media Relations, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) will have responsibilities across the UFEG portfolio with a specific focus with the motion picture group.
• Candidate will be responsible for day-to-day transactional media relations, maintaining strong relationships with business and trade reporters, to manage incoming project requests and announcements.
• Candidate will identify opportunities for and pitch story's that further UFEG's position in the press and build executive profiles, and develop strategies to enhance our films and leadership's visibility in the media landscape.
• Candidate will identify and covers executives at premieres, events and conferences.
• Candidate will be a strategic partner to communications group, reporting directly to the SVP, Global Communications, on issues management, messaging and positioning relating to key film priorities, and crisis communications.
• Candidate will help oversee preparation of written communications, including talking points, press releases, memos, strategy documents, and manage box office press.
• Candidate will help to maintain relationships with Universal's first-look term deals and key production partners.
• Candidate will work across the portfolio, specifically with for divisions including Universal Picture Home Entertainment, Film Music and Publishing, Brand Development, Universal Theatrical Group, Publicity/Awards, Global Talent Development & Inclusion, Litigation, International, Technology
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

• At least 7 years of corporate and/or crisis communications experience in the entertainment industry.

Eligibility Requirements
• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics
• Feature film communications experience at a studio, production company, talent agency, or communications/PR firm is preferred.
• Proven, exceptional writing skills (samples required).
• Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms.
• Clearly established relationships with a wide variety of reporters and editors in the trade and entertainment press.
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and collaborate with senior executives, creative partners, and peers across a highly matrixed, fast-paced, innovative, and highly energetic corporate culture.
• Highly organized and proven ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects.
• Graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field is preferred.
