Position Overview

NBCUniversal's Ad Product & Operations team is responsible for providing our Sales, Planning, and Inventory teams with all the operational tools and systems needed to manage our $8B ad sales business.

We are seeking a leader to manage our growing Business Intelligence team, and who will help us define, prioritize, and manage strategic and operational work that brings the power of data to our sales and sales operations teams.
This Bl team works across our TV and digital businesses, providing reporting and analytics solutions that are used by thousands of NBCU employees and that touch every part of the sales process. We ingest data from dozens of sources, and we do it at serious scale (billions of records per day). We build high-level dashboards, in-depth reports, and APls that deliver data to partners. This team, consisting mostly of product managers and business analysts, is newly consolidated across the entire sales organization, and it is supported by 80+ engineers. Among the team's responsibilities are:
• Defining how large data sets are ingested across dozens of partners/sources
• Gathering business requirements for report development, and building out those reports, which number in the hundreds today
• Defining the best ways make data accessible to internal and external partners
• Supporting data-savvy internal users with analyzing data directly using a variety of tools and programming languages
• Providing training and support to the users of the products we develop

Responsibilities:
• Manage a growing team of product managers and business analysts
• Partner with our technology teams to ensure tight alignment between product and engineering
• Work with business stakeholders across sales, operations, brand, and research teams to develop and maintain a business intelligence product roadmap
• Convert business requirements to plans with well-defined objectives, timelines and responsibilities for the team and successfully execute against them
• Evangelize the use of the tools we develop to accelerate automation and optimization efforts within sales
• Educate the broader organization in data literacy
• Help evolve the work we do beyond data ingestion and presentation and into the use of ML and Al to apply advanced data science to enhance decision-making
• Manage multiple priorities across a mix of ad hoc and operational projects
• Ensure alignment between the tools we use to surface data and the needs and capabilities of our users
• Use design-centered thinking methods to ensure that we are building tools that are easily to find and easy to use
• Monitor KPls around the usage of the products that we develop

Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing a Business Intelligence team or function
• A demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn new methods and tools
• Solid understanding of data visualization techniques and concepts, including experience with tools like MicroStrategy, Domo, Looker, Tableau, etc.
• Experience defining and managing data taxonomies and mapping, and of general data governance
• Solid understanding of modern data architecture methods, especially cloud-based and those that support large data sets
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older

Desired Characteristics
• Experience using SQL, R, Python and other similar tools preferred
• Experience working closely with large digital and/or TV ad sales organizations preferred
• Ability to manage, motivate and set clear goals for a high performing team
• Excellent communication skills with all levels of employees and management
• Excellent presentation skills, and the ability to convey complex data results in simple and concise ways
• Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of other teams
