Responsibilities
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help expand and evolve our product offering, bringing to life news, weather and sports experiences across digital platforms (desktop and mobile web, mobile apps, OTT and emerging platforms). You will work closely with Product team members of various disciplines and collaborate with stakeholders from across the division to enhance existing products and launch new ones. You'll also be a subject matter expert, providing insight into user behavior and user-centered thinking, and ideating on how best to engage, inform and grow our audiences. This role reports to the Director, Product Design.
Responsibilities
• Lead user experience exploration throughout the project lifecycle, defining requirements and translating them into personas, user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes and production-ready designs
• Shape the design vision of products across multiple platforms, and develop clear roadmaps to achieving each iteration of that vision
• Create impactful user experiences for every screen, using responsive layouts, clear and concise UI and intuitive motion to tell compelling stories across devices
• Develop and scale design systems, including component libraries, branding and style guidance, and governance documentation, and work closely with engineers to ensure products meet design specifications
• Help define and optimize the design process, from whiteboarding to visual QA
• Be an outspoken advocate for design within the organization, championing our end user and presenting design decisions and methodology to cross-functional teams and senior leadership
• Collaborate with and mentor other Design team members to ensure a unified vision and consistency of execution
• Regularly conduct primary and secondary research, including user interviews, A/B testing and competitive analysis, to inform and validate design decisions.
• Immerse yourself in usability data and behavior analytics to ensure products continue to meet criteria for success, for both users and our business
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in design, human-computer interaction, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years experience as a Product Designer, preferably of consumer-facing digital products in the media space
• Thorough proficiency with requisite UX design, prototyping and collaboration tools, including Sketch, Figma, InVision, Principle, Zeplin or their equivalents
• Portfolio detailing your process, with an emphasis on shipped products that you led or directly contributed to
• Ability to substantiate and effectively communicate design rationale to stakeholders through demonstrated knowledge of user-led, data-driven design thinking
• Experience managing design systems and articulating design requirements to engineers
• Proven ability to balance a project workload, adjust priorities based on shifting business requirements, and cooperate with team members and external vendors as needed to meet delivery deadlines
• Comfort working in an Agile environment, maintaining accountability for design deliverables and coordinating with the larger product team to achieve the collective milestones of a successful launch
• Up-to-the-minute understanding of technology developments and trends, and ability to lead their application to current and future products
