Responsibilities

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Sr. Human Resources Manager is primarily responsible for providing operational HR leadership, direction, and expertise for our DC Bureau. This role will support and provide onsite leadership for employees across NBCU News Group. In addition, the Sr. Manager will be responsible for partnering with the wider News HR team on emerging businesses and managing cross-portfolio initiatives and special projects along with employee engagement activities.

Essential Responsibilities
• Lead and leverage HR processes (incl. Staffing, Benefits, Performance Management, Compensation/Reward Management, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement & Communication)
• Partner/collaborate with senior leadership team to align and execute HR strategies in support of operations
• Manages complex employee relations issues
• Develop and implement appropriate change management plans as required
• Implement and monitor adherence to HR policies, procedures, and practices; Ensure compliance with state & federal laws
• Provide advice, counsel and coaching to employees regarding HR policies and procedures
• Identify, select, develop, and retain world-class talent and ensure a dynamic pipeline
• Participate in the ideation and organization of onsite employee events related to strategic initiatives (diversity, wellness, L&D, pipeline programs, etc.) – i.e. health & job fairs, development programs, volunteering opportunities, workplace seminars, etc.
• Manage SAP HR system - maintain integrity of employee data
• Uncover, assess, and propose opportunities for HR process improvements

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years professional level HR experience, including supporting an active and fast paced employee population
• 5+ years supporting a variety of HR functions, including, but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, compensation planning and organizational development.
• 3+ years' experience working with computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Desired Characteristics:
• Experience working experience in union environment
• Knowledge and practical application of HR disciplines including U.S employment and labor laws, employee relations, management & leadership development, performance management, organizational design and compensation philosophies and knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal guidance or direct supervision
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems with creative solutions
• Process and detail oriented, including strong organization, time management and prioritization skills
• Ability to work independently, strategize and influence at all organizational levels
• Strong work ethic
• Demonstrated ability to understand the clients' business and develop both strategic and tactical solutions to tangible business challenges
• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions
• Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
• SAP HR knowledge
• Ability to multi-task and work well under time constraints

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
