Senior Manager, Programming Accounting - Television & Streaming

Responsibilities
The Senior Manager of Program Accounting will serve as key member of the Controllership Group within the newly formed Television and Streaming Group. The Television and Streaming Group includes the best brands in the industry, from the NBC broadcast network to Peacock to cable networks including Bravo, E!, Oxygen, SyFy, and USA Network. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the entertainment television and streaming businesses and be a change agent. The position will report to the Senior Director, Programming Accounting and will work closely with finance leadership across the group.

This role will support the continued implementation of the transition plan, which is inclusive of (i) standardizing existing processes across the Group, (ii) identifying business process efficiencies, and (iii) implementing best practices. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully strive to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment. The role offers ample opportunity for growth within NBCUniversal.

Key Responsibilities
Operational:
• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in the ledger and the account reconciliation tool accurately and timely
• Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations of junior members of the team
• Review of program payments against contract terms and ensure proper coding to the general ledger and update in the subsidiary ledger
• Liaise with Program Finance and Tax teams relating to production tax credits and ensure a complete understanding of timing of recognition in support of balance sheet classification
• Participate in processes around reconciliation of intercompany licensing balances to ensure proper tie out and elimination between entities
• Timely preparation of data requests from Corporate Controller's Office for purposes of internal and external reporting purposes. Provides ideas for improvement in overall collection and reporting of data
• Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external auditors and provide requested support as necessary
• Active participant in ensuring SOX documentation is up to date and is reflective of current processes
• Assist team with various ad-hoc reporting requests, account analysis and other duties as needed to support requests of business leaders
• Proactively shares ideas and drives change in operational effectiveness while ensuring appropriate accounting

Process Improvement:
• Drives existing processes towards standardization with keen eye towards the existence of appropriate internal controls in place for a fair presentation of program assets and obligations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (''GAAP''), and support of the implementation of best practices for a centralized program accounting function
• Develop an in-depth understanding of key corporate subsystem applications and the interface with financial ledger. Work with IT to change applications that deliver results in the most efficient and accurate manner
• Active participant in the identification of areas for improvement and optimization by leveraging technology and elimination of redundancies.
• Encourages others in the Group to strive for high standards of performance

People:
• Manage lower level staff including review of work and providing timely feedback; manages the team to work productively during times of organizational change
• Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with the business finance and controllership teams

Qualifications/Requirements
• Strong foundational knowledge of GAAP to ensure financial statements are fairly presented. Must have similar foundational knowledge of controls and the ability to identify appropriate key controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial results.

Desired Characteristics
• 4+ years of work experience
• Big 4 or larger mid-sized firm background is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Masters desired
• CPA strongly desired
• Entertainment industry experience preferred
• Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
