ABOUT THE CORPORATE LEGAL AFFAIRS TEAM

CLA serves as primary counsel for various internal corporate functions, such as Sourcing, Operations & Technology and Real Estate. CLA also serves as a ''centre of excellence'' for transactional & contracting matters and legal entity governance on an enterprise-wide basis.
OVERVIEW

A permanent full-time role with a wide range of responsibilities across both the International Networks & DTC and Corporate Legal Affairs teams. This is a rare opportunity to combine legal and business affairs experience in a content-focused business unit with broad exposure to internal legal matters across the NBCU business as a whole.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Negotiation and drafting of distribution agreements across our portfolio of entertainment and news channels, direct-to-consumer offerings and brands internationally.
• Providing lead support for NBCU's International business to the Corporate Legal team in New York for a broad range of matters, including technology and sourcing agreements, corporate real estate matters, project work such as setting up new entities across multiple territories and advising the business on legal governance matters.
• Negotiation and drafting of advertising, sponsorship, research/data and client partnership agreements and providing support on other Networks & DTC matters as required.
• Advising internal clients on new business propositions, undertaking legal research and advising senior management across different business areas.
• Keeping up to date with, and advising the business on, key legislative and regulatory developments across the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, including on copyright, advertising and compliance matters.
• Support to, and close liaison with, other teams such as Tax, Finance, Employment and Compliance as required.

The responsibilities may be modified at any time and may include supervision and training of junior staff.

Qualifications
• Eligible to work in the UK
• Qualified to practise law in the UK preferred (other jurisdictions considered) with 6+ years' post-qualification experience or equivalent
• Post-qualification experience of drafting and negotiating: (i) commercial agreements (required); (ii) IP licences (preferred); (iii) corporate sourcing MSAs and SoWs (preferred); (iv) Master Software-As-A-Service Agreements (preferred).
• Strong understanding of intellectual property rights in relation to the business (copyright; fair dealing; trademarks) (required); understanding of rights categories and definitions relating to TV distribution (advantageous)
• Ability to cope with high-volume workload under time pressure, to work independently where required and to a high professional standard
• Excellent drafting and communication skills; accuracy and attention to detail
• Flexibility and good interpersonal skills, with proactive can-do approach and ability to work as part of a team across different business areas
