Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

This executive will work as the head of the team which oversees various administrative aspects of the overall Focus Features Business Affairs unit, including credit administration, delivery administration, and option calendaring. The position will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Business Affairs and will work in a fun, fast-paced environment for Focus Features, the company that produced and/or distributed such films as the Downton Abbey movies, Darkest Hour, Phantom Thread, BlacKkKlansman, Brokeback Mountain, Moonrise Kingdom, Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILIES:

Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the business affairs administration team and handling (or overseeing others handling) the following:
• Reviewing and approving all on-screen credit drafts for Company's in-house productions for format and accuracy
• Preparing and updating memos on credit and marketing obligations and restrictions for Company's films, and fielding questions from marketing and distribution teams on such obligations and restrictions
• Reviewing marketing materials such as one-sheets, trailers and TV spots for credit and contractual compliance
• Advising dealmakers on the business affairs team on above-the-line credit issues and approving all credit terms in below-the-line deal memos handled by the physical production team
• Managing the Company's involvement with WGA credit arbitrations
• Negotiating delivery schedules to all acquisition, negative pick-up and co-production agreements
• Trafficking documents (e.g., music licenses) to other groups for review, and relaying feedback to Company's licensing partners
• Tracking delivery due dates and procuring documents required by Universal Studios' international distribution groups
• Chasing and reviewing delivery documentation for films acquired by Company
• Communicating with film licensors and completion guarantors regarding delivery status
• Calendaring all option and reversion dates and notifying other executives of upcoming expiration dates
• Interfacing and coordinating with the following departments: acquisitions, production, physical production, marketing, publicity, insurance, finance, labor relations, music, domestic distribution and international distribution, as well as with producers, financiers and completion bond companies
• Performing additional responsibilities as assigned and directed by the Executive Vice President of Business Affairs

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Basic Qualifications:
• 7+ years of relevant experience, including, at a minimum, significant experience in credit administration
• Bachelor's degree

• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
