Responsibilities
NBC 6 South Florida is looking for a dynamic, engaging and experienced journalist to join our news team and anchor our weekend morning newscasts. We are dedicated to delivering meaningful and memorable stories for our digital and broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate puts a priority on enterprise reporting and compelling storytelling whether on the anchor desk or in the field. The ideal candidate will be someone who easily makes contacts in our community, has curiosity and passion for going beyond the surface of the story and seeks out characters to make storytelling unique and relatable.
• Anchor weekend newscasts
• Enterprise and pitch unique angles to topical stories
• Identify and pitch angles on big daily news stories and follow developments when appropriate
• Ensure stories are told in a compelling way with context and perspective
• Build relevant contacts and sources within the community
• Deliver live and recorded news events/stories authentically, accurately and in a compelling and engaging manner
• Ensure news gathering and storytelling techniques are in line with NBC News legal/standards guidelines
• Think visually using creative and high-quality production techniques including graphics, viewer photos/videos and virtual interviews
• Post digital content of daily stories
• Identify and produce additional digital content for stories when appropriate or assigned
• Use social media to promote stories and engage viewers

Qualifications/Requirements
• Proven track record of strong writing, storytelling and live reporting skills on both broadcast and digital
• Undergraduate degree required.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years television anchor and/or reporter experience.
• Must submit a resume/CV online as well as a link to recent work
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which could include overtime, nights, holidays and weekends
• Must be willing to work at the station's Miramar location
• Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
• Must be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations including hurricanes

• Strong journalistic and communication skills
• Excellent writing, storytelling and live reporting skills with the ability to juggle multiple daily and short-term projects
• Ability and willingness to edit video when needed
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
• Possess strong, detail-orientated research and writing skills
• Ability to speak and understand Spanish a plus
• Have a creative approach to digital platforms
• Strong, working knowledge of how to use social media to strengthen the brand, interact with viewers and promote stories
• Collaborative team player with a good attitude focuses on finding solutions
• Strong understanding and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics, including a current knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and prioritize work
• Familiarity with emerging news production techniques and technology, with a pioneering spirit with desire to learn emerging technologies
