Responsibilities

The Multimedia Journalist Associate is part of NBCU Local Television Stations' Development Program. It is a fast-track opportunity for television or digital journalists early in their careers or experienced print journalists interested in transitioning to television as on-air reporters.

Each Associate is assigned a mentor who is an experienced staff member. The Associate will work at KDEN, part of the Telemundo Station Group.

The ideal candidate is news and tech-savvy. She/He will help curate and produce video content and livestreams for Broadcast and OTT devices such as Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV. This candidate should exhibit solid news judgement, strong writing and communication skills in Spanish and English. The Multimedia Journalist Associate should have knowledge of multimedia - digital video production, including scripting, shooting, and editing his or her own digital video pieces. She/He will work with senior leadership on the news and digital teams to identify best practices and workflows. The ideal candidate should be passionate about finding and telling the right stories in new and engaging ways.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Learn how to take a proactive approach to developing content for breaking news and daily stories on multiple platforms while learning to use all applications available
• Contribute story ideas for key series pieces and lead stories for daily news programs. Research and write scripts for news content
• Communicate with News producers, assignment editors, and managers regarding story development and breaking news stories.
• Learn how news is integrating into social media and other multi-platform outlets
• Build skills around conduction interviews; developing solid news judgment; preparing and performing stand-ups; and producing a professional news package.

Qualifications

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Broadcast Communications or Journalism
• Speaking and writing skills in Spanish/English
• Basic knowledge of camera operation/editing skills
• Must be willing to work in Centennial, CO
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Must be able to lift, carry and transport production equipment on a regular basis
• Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours
• Commitment to Multimedia Journalist as a career
