Job Description
Responsibilities
The Manager of Accounting will play a key role in the general accounting and compliance across the Entertainment Portfolio. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Entertainment (inclusive of cable networks and NBC broadcast network) business and be a change agent. The position will report to the portfolio Director of Accounting and will work closely with finance leadership across the portfolio.

This position will support the Director of Accounting in the monthly close and the overall accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely preparation of the Entertainment financial statements. The role will support the (i) standardization of existing processes, (ii) identification of business process efficiencies, and (iii) implementation of best practices. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment.

Entertainment is a component of NBCUniversal Media reporting segment, a division of NBCUniversal.

Key Responsibilities
Operational:
• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in the ledger and the account reconciliation tool accurately and timely
• Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations of staff members
• Prepare and assist with reporting Balance Sheet review and variance analysis to department CFO's and Corporate Accounting
• Participate with the Director of Accounting in the collaboration with network finance and business affairs teams to determine timing of revenue/expense recognition to support appropriate entries in connection with monthly close and support finance team in variance reporting to pacing/budgets
• Oversee AP & P-Card programs; accruals, audits and reporting
• Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the General Ledger, including SAP hierarchy maintenance and Accounts Payable
• Assist in leading projects and other initiatives to improve the control environment, accounting process consistency and efficiency
• Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as requested
• Meet with internal and external auditors and provide requested support as necessary
• Ensure completion of data requests from the Corporate Accounting Reporting team for purposes of internal and external reporting
• Ensure SOX documentation is up to date and is reflective of current processes (as applicable)

Process Improvement:
• Participate in process re-design for all key relevant financial ledger processes and systems to achieve monthly close; participate in the identification of areas for improvement and optimization by leveraging technology and eliminating of redundancies
• Integral member of an accounting team that delivers quality accounting services as well as governance and control while supporting the close process based on a defined calendar
• Develop an in-depth understanding of key corporate subsystem applications and the interface with financial ledger

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience Level:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Master's degree in accounting strongly desired
• 4-5+ years of accounting experience required, inclusive of 2+ years of Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred
• CPA or on path to obtaining CPA License preferred
