Responsibilities
OVERVIEW

This is a key role for UPCG that supports the CFO in the financial management of the business, being responsible for all FP&A related activities globally, while also working closely with the Financial Controller on all finance activities & supporting the wider finance team. The role also provides key business insights & tracking of performance within the year, while also providing management with key strategic information to support business decisions, set long term financial targets, track key business metrics & assess/set up new businesses around overhead allocation, organisational structure. There role will be responsible for direct report, Senior Commercial Finance Analyst.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FP&A
• Responsible for the tracking and performance measurement of UPCG, as well as setting short (Budgets/Estimates) & long term (Long Range Plan) targets for the business with the CFO
• Ownership of all FP&A activities related to Monthly and Quarter close. Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure that all financial processes are accurate and on time
• Provide monthly financial reporting to the CFO, EVP of UPCG & wider management team with details of monthly estimates, key drivers of variances and upcoming opportunities & risks
• Lead the annual Budgeting and 5-year Long Range Plan processes each year, supporting the CFO in analysing the business, setting targets, and presenting those to the senior management teams
• Ensure robust and consistent tracking of title/slate financial ultimate's, assess key opportunities & risks and present key findings/trends to Senior Management team
• Partner with the Content Strategy team on licensing of rights out to third parties, ensuring all deal terms are tracked and accounted for in estimates and monthly closes
• Take a lead role in evaluating, setting up and reporting on new businesses (for example Direct to Consumer fitness platforms).
• Provide commercial advice & guidance to Marketing, Operations & Content Strategy teams to maximise growth whilst minimising business risks
• Work with the Operations and Marketing teams to ensure spend is closely tracked and monthly forecasts are accurate

KEY STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
• Be a key point of contact to finance & non-finance stakeholders both internal to UPCG and other reporting lines
• Build and maintain relationships with the Head Office finance team in LA to deliver accurate & timely financial reporting/forecasting​​​​​​
• Work closely with our Japan Opco finance team, ensuring regular interaction & detailed reporting

MANAGEMENT OF BOARD APPROVAL PROCESS
• Working closely with the Senior Commercial Finance Analyst, oversee the approval process for all new investments in content
• Ensure detailed review & understanding of deal financials & terms, support all teams sourcing new content so that all deal P&L's are accurate and assumptions clearly laid out for the board to approve
• Work closely with the legal team to ensure all terms that are approved are reflected accurately in the long form contracts
• Understand the deal approval workflow, ensuring all deals are approved by the correct board members

COMPLIANCE & CONTROLS
• Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure adherence with corporate policies and procedures for financial accounting, reporting and external requirements, including US and local GAAP
• Liaise with corporate and indirect tax teams, internal and external audit
• Reviews key company contracts
• Ensure ultimate's, royalties and participations are up to date and accurate
• Set a high standard of attention to detail and accuracy for the finance team
• Oversee the payments process, ensuring strong controls in place & that all payments are fully approved, supported and in line with agreed contracts

TEAM MANAGEMENT
• Demonstrate and promote company culture and values
• Coach and develop direct reports, providing consistent & regular development feedback.
• Support the entire Finance Team alongside the CFO & FC, providing an open & respectful culture for the team to work within
• Effectively manage team alongside the CFO & FC, ensuring effective use of resource & managing priorities for the entire group

ABOUT YOU
• You'll be an accredited professional (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with strong commercial finance and/or controllership experience.
• You'll have a proven ability to link operations to financials and an understanding in supporting a business through appropriate accounting and financial guidelines.
• You'll have an attention to detail

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL
• An accredited professional finance qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA or equivalent)
• Commercial finance and/or controllership experience with the proven ability to link operations to financials
• Demonstrated experience in prioritising, managing multiple deliverables & stakeholders
• Experienced in supporting the business through appropriate accounting and financial guidelines
• Attention to detail with high level of accuracy
• Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills
