Financial Accountant (Newly Qualified)

Responsibilities

Role Title: Financial Accountant (Newly Qualified)

Reporting to: Finance Manager

Universal International Studios is a division of Universal Studio Group, delivering award-winning content to millions across the globe. Based in London, the business' in-house production labels include Carnival Films, Monkey, Working Title Television, Heyday Television and Australian-based Matchbox Pictures. Universal International Studios also owns an equity stake in Lark Productions in Canada. Additionally, the studio houses a UK and LA-based scripted unit that develops and produces original series.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Managing and taking ownership of overheads (both forecasting and accounting)
- Assisting with Corporate Reporting
- Support Manager and Controller with required finance functions

Key Responsibilities
Overheads
- Manage overheads forecasting and spend including Compensation & Benefits and Consulting
- Manage the monthly close process and review overheads comparing actuals against forecasted
- Oversee monthly revenue recognition and unbilled entries
- Oversee AR ledger management

Corporate reporting
- Reviewing quarterly Blackline reconciliations (Equity Investments/AR/Deferred Revenue/Accruals)
- Analysing balance sheet accounts at month end for balance sheet review
- Responsible for resolving edit checks identified at corporate level during month end closes

Tax
- Calculation and posting of tax estimates on quarterly basis
- Work with tax team to support reconciliation of tax balances

Additional Finance Support
- Assist finance functions (FP&A and Commercial Finance) with relevant data analysis
- Assist with Group analysis requests
- Ad hoc data reports / requests / tasks

SKILLS / QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Newly qualified with an accredited professional finance qualification (ACA or equivalent);
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP and FRS102);
- Exposure to a large multi-currency organisation;
- Excellent excel skills and confident with financial systems. SAP experience beneficial, but not essential;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with ability to effectively manage multiple deliverables;
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a proactive attitude towards work coupled with the ability to use initiative and take ownership of all work;
- Demonstrated attention to detail with proven accuracy whilst working in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with Management and other Departments;
- Excellent English (written and spoken) language
