Job Description
Responsibilities

The Entertainment Marketing team in NBC Universal's TV & Streaming Group is looking for an Editor with solid experience in the entertainment news space to create original content for NBC Insider, providing editorial coverage of NBC's suite of Late Night shows. This is a brand-new role on the team that involves building new workflows and identifying new content opportunities, and will ultimately have editorial purview for NBC Insider over Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

You'll be a strong, detail-oriented writer and editor with an exceptional nose for news and the ability to meet deadlines. You'll have an instinct for identifying compelling stories and writing clickable headlines, with an equal amount of discernment. You'll be expected to combine your passion for content with team collaboration, good judgment, and data to help guide decision making.

The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with the NBC and Late Night brands with a strong understanding of the shows' comedic tones. Experience in entertainment news is a must and attention to detail is essential, including being able to cover delicate subject matter with sensitivity.

As part of the larger Entertainment Marketing team, you'll be expected to craft compelling content that energizes the NBC audience and beyond, driving awareness to our linear programming, digital platforms, and other business priorities.

This role will generally work on a Sunday to Thursday schedule during the SNL season (September through May), and a Monday to Friday schedule during the off-season.

Responsibilities:
• Managing daily publishing calendar of content covering NBC's Late Night properties, including assigning and editing 1-2 writers, and writing content.
• Strategizing optimal coverage angles and tactics or episodic content, interviews and features, and show-related announcements.
• Serving as the editorial lead for all things Late Night, including collaborating with Late Night Brand Marketing, PR, Social Media, and Video teams.
• Ensuring that all content is optimized for Search; coordinating promotion with respective Social teams and collaborating with respective Audience Development teams on tactics to increase performance.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience writing and working in a fast-paced digital news setting with established outlets with a focus in entertainment/celebrity content.
• Exceptional news judgement with the ability to turn around angles and copy independently with accuracy, sensitivity, and timeliness.
• Experience managing and editing writers, including copy editing, giving writing and performance feedback, assigning stories, and managing an editorial calendar.
• Knowledge of SEO best practices and the ability to work them into writing to ensure correct optimization.
• Experience using data analysis systems (Parse.ly, Chartbeat, DOMO, Omniture, Adobe, Tableau) to guide decision making.
• Experience working directly with talent and publicists.
• Must have work authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Characteristics:
• Working knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok) and YouTube.
• Experience publishing within Drupal CMS.
• A detailed knowledge of and passion for the NBC Late Night universe is a huge plus.

Additional Requirements:
• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
