Responsibilities
The Director of Development is responsible for securing commissions and supporting the SVP in the development new concepts and formats for our networks and developing possible co-production opportunities with other Production Companies and other partners. In many cases, the role extends to researching the international TV format market.
The position will work as a liaison between the area and the several divisions of NBCUniversal during the development of formats including legal, compliance, understating of budget limitations, alignment with programming teams, and working side by side with the in-house production team.
The Director of Development must have a comprehensive understanding of which factual and entertainment programming interests the Company's target audiences. A knowledge of content successes and emerging trends in culturally relevant international broadcasters is also important.
Essential Responsibilities
• Take and evaluate pitches and scripts for potential development for all NBCUniversal portfolio of channels in Latin America. Assist SVP in developing new formats, including identifying and securing new talent for projects in development
• Build and maintain relationships with production and/or co-production partners as well as talent agents and managers
• Identify new business opportunities, pursuing potential deals where appropriate
• Provide notes on all phases of development material (pitch documents, outlines, and scripts)
• Provide notes on story, outline, and script for projects in development
• Work with director of PR and Talent relations to close talent and with the production team to close production deals
• Attend shoots, and work with the Executive Producers and Production Finance team to solve budget issues
• Work with Current Production team to ensure that agreed to concepts are fully realized in production
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with producers, directors, agents, and production companies
Qualifications/Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Fluency in English and Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese is a plus
Desired Characteristics
• Experience in programming for a network or production company
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to cultivate relationships internally and externally
• Strong relationships with Agents, Managers, writers, and producers related to the Latin American and Hispanic markets
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high energy environment
