Job Purpose:

The Director of Strategic Communications (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) will ideate and execute communications strategies for the DEI initiatives across NBCUniversal Television and Streaming Entertainment networks, which specifically includes broadcast network NBC, six cable entertainment networks (Bravo, E!, Universal Kids, USA, Syfy and Oxygen) and streaming network Peacock. The role reports into the Vice President, Strategic Communications (Diversity Equity & Inclusion).

The cross-functional role spans: (1) external and internal communications for NBCU LAUNCH, the umbrella brand that houses the comprehensive DEI efforts across NBCU's entertainment television content, (2) multicultural publicity campaigns for content across the aforementioned networks, (3) DEI assessment of shows and marketing content, and (4) support of NBCU Corporate Diversity efforts.

The role partners closely with the NBCU LAUNCH team, the NBCU Corporate Diversity team, the DEI Communications team at Universal Studio Group as well as Human Resources.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Support a narrative that underscores NBCUniversal Television and Streaming's entertainment brands as a leader in representative storytelling as well as an inclusive workplace committed to creating equity
• Partner closely with the DEI Communications team at Universal Studio Group (USG) to ideate around and execute the external and internal communications plans for NBCU LAUNCH
• Lead the multicultural show publicity for our content including pitching larger, thematic stories and serving as day-to-day manager of the multicultural PR agency that supports the show publicity teams
• Ideate and execute programming panels and activations at festivals and summits hosted by diverse organizations and internal groups
• Collaborate with the NBCU LAUNCH and USG DEI teams on content assessment which includes reviewing scripts, cuts, casting breakdown and marketing materials to ensure that underrepresented communities are accurately portrayed
• Liaise with external partners including key organizations that serve diverse communities to serve as subject area experts for content assessment as well as promote the group's DEI efforts

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of eight years of experience in communications/public relations.
• Extensive knowledge of underrepresented communities including, but not limited to BIPOC and LGBTQ communities and their intersections as well as the social issues that impact them
• Proven track record of developing and executing comprehensive internal and external communications plans
• Strong critical thinking and writing skills
• Passion for DEI efforts
• Decisive and tactful in written and verbal communication
• Excellent collaboration skills and able to work well on a cross-functional team
• Strong people manager skills with experience effectively managing and motivating a team
