Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Operations Department Overview:

The NBCU Ad Sales Strategy team is responsible for driving growth opportunities for the wider sales organization. Acting as strategic consultants, this dynamic team supports Ad Sales and corporate stakeholders across a wide range of initiatives including long-term strategic planning, market/competitive analyses, business case development, sales optimization, and budget planning.

The Director, Advertising Strategy will interface with business leaders across multiple functions, both inside and outside Ad Sales. We're looking for a proactive self-starter to bring innovative thinking and strong analytical skills to help grow our business. As an integral part of a blue-chip team with significant media experience, you will impact revenue growth across the NBCUniversal portfolio by identifying and optimizing monetization opportunities.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Formulating the long-term advertising monetization strategy for the NBCU Ad Sales portfolio, while ensuring year-to-year progress toward that vision
• Support annual strategic planning process, coordinating opportunity identification and plan development across multiple strategic growth areas, and driving buy-in with Ad Sales leadership
• Develop business case analyses to evaluate advertising product suite and prioritize new monetization opportunities to maximize demand
• Facilitate strategic brainstorms with cross-functional stakeholders
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop operational plans to execute strategies
• Partner with cross-portfolio teams to optimize go-to-market products, positioning, and analytic insights
• Benchmark performance against streaming competitors/marketplace
• Regularly assess business model / in-market performance to ensure optimization of advertiser needs, viewer engagement and monetization KPIs
• Organize and drive high-impact strategic projects, leveraging thought leadership and analytics
• Summarize and present project findings and recommendations to senior leadership and the broader organization
• Assist business leaders with analysis, market intelligence and presentation support as needed as an input to business planning
• Serve as a conduit between Strategy and Product teams, facilitating ongoing communication and coordination of strategic and product planning processes
• Execute ad hoc requests with thoughtful, diligent business case analysis in coordination with cross-functional partners
• Developing C-Suite presentations to recommend or inform on advertising strategy, performance, and new opportunities for growth and investment to Ad Sales leadership and/or corporate executiv

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements
• Must possess a passion for media and strong intellectual curiosity
• A minimum of 6 - 8 years previous relevant work experience; this could include media experience at a tech/network/streaming company, professional services (e.g., consulting, investment banking), or corporate strategy/finance
• Strong PowerPoint skills and proven proficiency summarizing information/analyses into concise/influential C-Suite presentations
• Proven quantitative analytical abilities, including Excel modeling skills
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to present results of complex analyses clearly
• Excellent organizational, time and people management skills and the ability to work in groups and independently
• BA/BS required (MBA preferred), or equivalent experience

Eligibility Requirements
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older

Desired Characteristics
• MBA preferred
• Previous experience in advertising sales or at a media company a plus. Consulting background strongly preferred.
• Passion for diving into complex concepts, defining value propositions and championing the voice of sales
• Ideal candidate is a proactive individual who possesses the ability to take initiative and perform analysis and other tasks with minimal supervision, including the ability to deal with competing priorities effectively, and work efficiently in a high-paced, results-oriented environment
• Ability to develop strong relationships with across all levels of the organization
