Responsibilities
NBCU is looking for a dynamic Strategist to become a valued member of the Cable Brand Strategy & Consumer Engagement team (Bravo, E!, USA, SYFY, Oxygen and Universal Kids). Reporting to the Director, Brand Strategy & Planning, this person will support the Brand Strategy team in the development of communications and marketing strategies that foster ideas, inspire creative thinking, drive cultural relevancy and lead to audience awareness, tune-in and fandom. The Brand Strategy team works cross-functionally across multiple disciplines and plays a critical role in establishing the foundation of marketing campaigns across all networks, while also assisting with other high visibility brand priorities.
The ideal candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about the entertainment landscape, be excited to analyze consumer research, will be detail-oriented and have great writing and data visualization skills and will be curious to learn how to translate quantitative and qualitative data into insightful POVs, compelling brand stories and unique selling propositions.
Role Purpose
• The ideal candidate will blend intellectual curiousity with business acumen. They will be eager to understand the changing media landscape, shifts in consumption patterns, and be motivated to learn how to develop compelling strategies that foster ideas, inspire creative thinking and lead to audience awareness, tune-in and fandom.
• The candidate will work closely with the Brand Marketing, Digital, Research, On-Air, Creative Development, Media, External Agencies and Development groups to support development of actionable and useful strategies that set the foundation for all marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Assist Brand Strategy team in leveraging data, insights and analysis to help define and articulate the audiences, positioning, messaging hierarchy, cultural context and marketing platform for scripted/non-scripted original programming.
• Conduct background research on new projects, including finding relevant articles, summarizing series information and gathering materials internally
• Create presentations that provide insights on the media, entertainment, cultural and competitive landscape
• Assist with the development of marketing strategy briefs and presentations
• Author strategic primers for new non-scripted and scripted series
• Maintain project tracking for multiple workstreams and deliverables to meet deadlines.
• Manage printing and material distribution for larger internal strategy share-outs
• Coordinate meeting scheduling and take lead on notes for meetings as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
• 1+ years of brand marketing and/or communications experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (writing and verbal), including tact and diplomacy
• Meticulous, thorough with details, and well organized
• Passion for and knowledge of the entertainment industry
• Can manage multiple tasks simultaneously under deadline and pressure, and can pivot priorities with ease
• Is a highly resourceful problem solver for which no job is too big or too small
• Handles all projects proactively and thoroughly
• Can exercise a high level of discretion with confidential and sensitive information
• Has demonstrated mastery of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and file sharing software (i.e., Dropbox, Google Drive). Strong data visualization skills a plus.
• Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Confident, driven, self-starter, who is comfortable working autonomously.
• Must be willing to work in New York City.
