Responsibilities
NBCUniversal in Washington, DC has an opening for a staff Audio Engineer/A1 supporting NBC, MSNBC, NBC News Now, and Peacock.
Responsibilities
• JOB PURPOSE: The Audio Engineer / A1 will prepare show audio requirements, operate equipment, and integrate audio sources to create a high quality mix
• Mix multiple audio sources: studio and remote host/guest microphones, music and clips for fast paced live programs
• Handle mic and IFB patching and routing and prepare talent mics and mix-minus for studio and remote locations
• Coordinate with the Director, Tech Manager, and the studio floor A2
• Edit music and sound effects within a short turnaround to air
• Prepare audio operations and technical infrastructure details for assigned shows
• Responsible for compliance with all applicable company policies
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience using audio consoles and intercom systems
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a live news and/or sports production control room environment
• Minimum 5 years prior experience mixing live shows required (This is not a Post Production Audio position)
• Extensive experience with Calrec Audio Consoles
• Minimum DANTE Level 2 certification
• Extensive experience with RTS Intercom systems and software
• Strong client service and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure in an on-air environment
• Knowledge of live news TV production processes
• Advanced PC computer skills
• Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-resolution skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice
• Must be willing to work in Washington, DC
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be willing to travel on occasion for remote audio operations including possible international travel
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have a valid driver's license and valid passport
• Must be able to pack, lift and setup remote audio case gear up to 30lbs
• Successful candidate will be required to join the NABET Union if not already a member
Desired Qualifications
• Involved with the design and installation of audio infrastructure
• Experience coordinating with equipment vendors for maintenance and upgrades of equipment
• Proficiency in pro-tools for post-show audio fixes
• Experience setting up and mixing in a mobile unit
