Role

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group is hiring an accounting clerk to enhance our studio team. We seek a high-performing, motivated, conscientious professional who exhibits strong production accounting skills. You will be a part of a dynamic and creative production finance team working directly for the VP production finance. The position deals with highly confidential financial and proprietary information and interacts with all levels of the studio, including Senior Management, Physical Production, Post-Production, VFX, Tax, Development, Business Affairs, Legal and other business units of the company. The successful candidate should possess strong cross-functional collaboration and partnership skills in order to work closely with all internal and external teams. He/She should be self-motivated, proactive, ability to pivot when necessary, detailed oriented and thorough, and able to juggle multiple diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and an unwavering attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Administer the financial preparation of pre-production payroll and production prep period accounting documents, assist in forecasting production funding, establish new show accounting set-up, prepare and send new show production packets, and interface with all production accounting offices.
• Reconcile cash actuals for Production Finance submissions to the FP&A group, and update production incentive forecast/analysis for various projects
• Work with Comcast Treasury to open production bank accounts, and establish foreign exchange spreadsheets, estimate FX currency gain/loss, and coordinate forward currency purchases
• Communicate with production finance team and keep them abreast of any finance, production and accounting related issues, as well as serve as a back-up for more sophisticated functions in the absence of a senior finance executive
• Create, update and proactively maintain production finance documents and resources through assisting with updating production status reports, preparing journal entries, researching studio costs, distributing accounting reports, and reconciling travel expenses.
• Manage production wire transfers and various invoices with follow up and confirmation, and maintain a log of all production wire transfers
• Serve as a bridge between freelance accounting departments and the studio to ensure both sides receive pertinent updates in a timely manner, and is the point of contact for questions from production regarding general company policies and procedures.
• Provide administrative support to the VP Production, and oversee general office maintenance, including filing of confidential documentation
• Support ad hoc projects, training & development initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic and high volume administrative role within the entertainment industry, ideally with some analytical responsibilities
• Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint

Desired Characteristics
• Strong communication skills, written / verbal, and ability to interact with employees at all levels, including upper management.
• Previous Production Experience (television or film) preferred. Knowledge of any industry specific accounting or scheduling programs a plus.
• Candidates must be motivated, extremely organized and detail oriented, have excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality for highly sensitive materials and details is key
• Strong follow through and able to anticipate issues before they arise
• Ability to multitask and juggle many competing priorities efficiently
• Excellent critical thinking skills
