As a Transmission Streaming Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the success of digital streaming for NBC Sports on Peacock and other digital platforms. You will help grow our digital business through innovation and reliability while offering the best of sports to our fans and partners, including Olympics, NFL Football, Golf, Premiere League Soccer, MLB, NASCAR, College Sports, and much more. This position requires proficiency with digital streaming technology, signal flow, and encoding best practices.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee existing architecture renovations and updates. Be up to date on any new firmware needed for increased stability as well as bug fixes within existing on-prem systems.
• Create and improve workflows delivering consistent and exciting Digital content to our live sport apps.
• Remain current with latest technology regarding hardware, software and security. Always looking to innovate our Digital systems with novel solutions being provided within the industry.
• Work with the engineering staff to maintain the Broadcast Production hardware, software and workflows. Including playout server systems, production automation, and control interfaces.
• Interacts with transmission carriers and customers to resolve issues, escalations, maintenance, and overall performance.
• Create standard operation procedures (SOPs) for transmission technology and workflows. activities, which include: audio/video and communications check-in and QC process for remotes, outgoing transmission activity, and ingest. This includes linear Broadcast as well as digital stream creation.
• Understands and can troubleshoot Multicast workflows with multiple protocols (UDP, RTP, SRT, RTMP, Zixi, etc.)
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays as required by Tier 1 Sporting Events.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience in broadcast or digital streaming; minimum of two (2) years preferred.
• Bachelors in Communications, IT Networking, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Intermediate level knowledge of routing and switching concepts and technologies. Must be familiar with core routing/switching, firewalls, proxies, DNS, VoIP, and unified communications.
• Knowledge of fiber optic technologies and coax transport, video encoding codecs, multicast, and plant routing systems a must.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of Engineering as well as outside the organization. Ambition to learn and collaborate within and outside of our organization.
• Ability to create and comprehend signal flow documents using various programs such as LucidCharts, AutoCAD, Visio, etc.
• Excellent communicator and able to manage highly technical operations teams while interfacing with Engineering, Operations, Production, and 3rd party vendors.
