Freelance Tech Ops Center Operator - NBC Sports Bay Area

Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE: This is a project / limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

A Technical Operations Center (TOC) Operator is needed to support transmission engineering and operations technologies for the NBC Sports Bay Area. You'll work with and support all in the NBC Sports Bay Area Engineering, Operations and Content Teams to ensure a quality product on air. From receiving media assets at remote venues to final distribution, the TOC Operator has technical skills in media operations and is proficient in video, audio, and quality control.

The ideal candidate has experience in media operations, is meticulous, and is extremely organized. The TOC Operator is fluent at communicating both technical and non-technical information; is comfortable working both independently and within an established team; and provides quality service with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities:
• Acquiring and routing technically accurate signals throughout the facility and assisting Engineering with Live Event production needs in studio
• Verifies that deliverables meet the broadcast specification by performing accurate and systematic testing of audio, video to ensure transmission delivery
• Check in production truck and remote show transmission feeds for use in studio productions and transmission to master control
• Documentation of procedures and authoring of daily operation reports

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Basic level of technical knowledge of audio, video, signal flow, and quality control for broadcast.
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot quality control issues
• Ability to proficiently operate waveform monitors, vector scopes, audio metering applications and video router controls
• Knowledge of Cellular Bonding systems (Dejero, LiveU)
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot operational issues in real time while thinking critically to find solutions and implement the corrective actions, including escalation when needed
• Able to accurately read work order instructions and follow procedures
• Previous experience in engineering and operations for major enterprise, carrier, or equivalent is a plus

• Must be willing to work in San Francisco, CA

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite

• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
