Job Description

Freelance Golf Researcher – NBC Sports

Responsibilities:
• Research, compile, and distribute post-round notes at the conclusion of each PGA/LPGA Tour tournament round (Thursdays-Sundays). These are both statistics and storyline-based, and serve both studio and tournament production/announce teams for the following day's shows
• Produce the department's news ''briefing'', a document that gets published twice per week and contains excerpts from all the timely & relevant news, features, and other miscellaneous stories in the golf world
• Assist in the department's prep materials for our televised events, which include but are not limited to player bios and tournament overviews
• Other research-based tasks as assigned
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of on-air content

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must have deep knowledge of golf; familiarity with PGA Tour & LPGA Tour strongly preferred, familiarity with amateur/college golf a bonus
• Proven journalistic writing ability. Submission of writing samples required.
• Demonstrated editorial judgment and fact-checking ability.
• Must be able to work in a team-first environment
• Must be organized and can multi-task
• Must be able to work on weekends and in the evenings

Desired Qualifications
• Strong background in journalism
• Experience as a senior writer or editor at a college/professional daily newspaper or top line magazine.
• Experience working in a sports information office.
• Experience providing sports information for on-air broadcasters.
• Experience conducting in-person and phone interviews.
• Strong working knowledge of various research sources and methods.

• Position will be work from home until further notice. Applicants must be willing to work in Stamford, CT at a future date.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
