Responsibilities
We're seeking an editor to lead the newly created trending news team at NBC News Digital in New York.

In this position, you will cultivate coverage of breaking pop culture and entertainment news for NBC News Digital, as you'll be the first to spot what's currently trending online. You'll also stay attuned to broader cultural conversations to identify new trends early.
As the trending news editor, you'll set the agenda for the day's pop culture coverage, watching what's bubbling up on social and search platforms. You'll have a keen sense for what audiences are interested in and the curiosity to spot unanswered questions in the major stories on your beat. You'll assign and edit stories and also be able to step in and write if necessary. You will manage two full-time reporters to start.

You must have keen news judgment and be able to spot important developments that can be turned into stories.
You will also make sure that the stories you're writing have the best photos, videos, social media embeds and other elements to provide context to a reader.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Regularly monitoring social media
• Expertise writing SEO and social headlines
• Writing clean, fast and accurate copy, headlines, and photo and video captions
• Communicating with a team of other reporters and editors
• Making full use of the range of NBC News resources, including network newsgathering and multimedia

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:
• 4 or more years of experience working in a newsroom and
editing daily stories, preferably for a digital publication
• Prior experience managing/leading a team
• Experience monitoring social and search trends online
• Must be a skilled editor with outstanding communication
skills
