The diverse journalism at NBC News Digital helps audiences make sense of the moment

while making better, more informed decisions. NBC News Group is seeking an SEO Analyst to join our Audience Development team and support coverage during the biggest news events. This SEO Analyst will become a strategic partner to our NBC News and MSNBC teams, helping editors prepare stories to be found in search, analyze trends, and source ideas for research and development. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of SEO for news organizations and can identify trending and emerging news stories. The team is looking for a thought leader who understands the importance of journalism, search intent, and content discovery.

Key Responsibilities
• Promoting SEO best practices & offering optimization tips for text and video in real-time (search headlines, meta descriptions, internal linking, URLs, etc.)
• Work closely with the editorial teams to establish strategies for getting more of their content in front of search audiences
• Communicate insights via reports to editorial teams & stakeholders on search performance
• Train editors and newsroom staff on how to optimize for specific content types, such as: news stories, videos, photos, special features, and explainer/evergreen content.
• Participate in daily editorial meetings and act as the go-to person for editors seeking answers on all things SEO
• Provide support during tentpole events and major breaking news moments
• Conduct research using Google Trends, proactive communicate what people are searching for, and flag possible stories to editorial based on insights
• Monitor competitor coverage of news topics and events.
• Track and manage keywords relevant to coverage of news topics

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• 2+ years of proven SEO experience, preferably within digital publishing
• Proven experience implementing major improvements in organic search performance
• Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven recommendations regarding solutions and opportunities.
• Deep knowledge of Google trends
• Proficient with Google Search Console, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Excel, Chartbeat, and Google Slides
• Strong project management skills and experience
• Self-starter who can develop and execute strategy and action plans
• Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team player with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
