Job Description

Responsibilities
• High-level management of NBC News Digital's Washington team
• Day-to-day management of personnel, including at least one deputy editor
• Work closely with politics reporters to direct, refine, and support their reporting
• Edit copy so that it's sharp, engaging, and rigorous.
• Have a keen sense of accountability journalism as well as what stories and assignments will drive the political discussion
• Handle breaking news, generate original story ideas and develop fresh angles for major storylines of the moment.
• Ensure the tone of and mix of stories is in line with NBC News Digital editorial strategy, and the voice and standards of NBC News Digital.
• Share information and collaborate with all NBC News platforms in a timely fashion.

Qualifications
• 5+ years editing politics at a regional or national newspaper, magazine, or digital news organization.
• 10+ years of professional journalism experience.
• You have a high emotional IQ and are able to inspire and motivate a team of talented reporters to put forth their best work
• You are a leader and can make tough coverage decisions under tight deadlines
• You understand that you are part of a team and that the team's success is everyone's success
