Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW:

At the NBC News Group, we're responsible for the best, most impactful news brands in the industry, including NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, Today, and E!. We care passionately about news and our ability to help our customers to get informed and inspired about what's important to them (and us.)

As a designer on our Commerce team, you will ideate and grow our shopping experiences to better serve customers through our trusted brands. You will work on products that span our major brands, and at the same time, evolve the design systems that support those experiences.

The Job:
• Work on a passionate, consumer-centric agile team to create and evolve our live coverage experiences for the upcoming elections and beyond
• Channel broader design vision and articulate product design strategy via visual artifacts.
• Grow expertise and stay current on customer needs and behaviors as they apply to News commerce experiences, working with Customer Experience and Research teams.
• Determine hierarchies of information and content flow, contributing to a design system that evolves and grows around our shoppable content.
• Capture interactions, edge-cases, & the various states of these experiences through deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
• Work within, and contribute to, our design systems as well as cross-platform visual systems and languages
• Be a core contributor and/or co-facilitator in product discovery, from research and synthesis to workshops and ideation
• Use data to inform design decisions and continually validate your work with real users
• Map out user journeys and flows
• Partner and collaborate with internal teams including research, editorial, marketing, growth, broadcast, advertising, business development and others
• Utilize design thinking skills to gather insights and inputs from internal stakeholders
• Build low-fi to high-fi designs as needed in the product development process to run reviews and to gain buy-in on ideas.
• Collaborate with design peers and their teams to share learnings, leverage shared effort and ensure quality cross-platform experience

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:
• Strong design skills, including layout, typography, color,

and interaction design.
• Understanding of usability implications across platforms,

with a background in mobile preferred
• Proficiency with contemporary design, prototyping tools,

and methods
• Portfolio of examples of relevant, finished digital work

and their professional application
• Experience working with OKR, KPI or other goal

measuring framework
• Strong knowledge or understanding of HTML, CSS and

JavaScript.
• 3+ years' experience as a full-stack product designer

who utilizes a data-driven, human-centric approach to

product design and development.
• 3+ years' experience developing or contributing into

design systems
• 3+ years' experience with experience with Product

Discovery, Design Thinking, Lean UX
• Experience in the media, news, or technology/internet

industries
• Preferred: Experience implementing accessibility best

practices and knowledge of considerations throughout

product process
