Responsibilities

As a Booking Associate Producer, you will work as part of NBC News' Booking Unit, responsible for bookings guests across all platforms of NBC News, including TODAY, Weekend TODAY, Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, Meet the Press, Dateline, Specials, as well as digital platforms.

Responsibilities:
• Managing and prioritizing short-term and long-term bookings across the multiple platforms of NBC News.
• Expected to both pitch story ideas and work on assigned stories developed by the editorial team.
• Will be working with the production team for all travel logistics for the guests as well as arranging pre-interviews with segments producers.
• Coordinating and giving direction to all bookers in the field, often times during breaking news.
• Writing letters and proposals to various publicists, lawyers, and/or potential guests.
• Supporting other team members with breaking news interviews and long term guest pursuits.
• Liase daily responsibilities between dayside and evening staff
• Communicate with senior producers at TODAY, Nightly News and NBC News NOW on status of bookings and editorial
• Manage and refine our daily booking note shared across the network.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements
• Must have at least 2 years of experience working in production or booking at the network level, ideally as a desk assistant, researcher, or executive assistant in a newsroom.
• Must be a team player, willing to work overtime hours, or travel on short notice for breaking news.
• Schedules will vary but must be able to work all shifts, including overnights. Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed.
• Must be able to work in New York, NY with a hybrid/in-office schedule.
• Must have an up to date passport
• Must be willing to take submit to a background investigation.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

• Gathers information, and daily story ideas from newsletters, podcasts and new forms of media
• Must be ok with rejection, even when you want to crawl under your desk
• Likes to hit Wikipedia or Google search for background information on people you read about on or in the news.
• Feels extreme excitement over an exclusive graphic, especially when it is on an interview the team booked
• Understands how to work with people in difficult, sometimes competitive circumstances when pursuing a guest.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
• Strong knowledge of all social media platforms.
• Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices.
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events.
