Job Description

Responsibilities
The associate editor plays a crucial role in the award-winning NBC News Brand Studio, developing, coordinating, planning, and executing content programs for our partners.

The associate editor works under the supervision of the managing editor writing, reviewing and editing the work of staff and freelance journalists to ensure all content meets the editorial standards of the NBC News organization. Additionally, the associate editor will manage programs from inception to completion, including responding to RFPs, establishing timelines and deliverables, coordinating with campaign stakeholders, including clients, and publishing and optimizing content.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-sale/Development:
Average of 6 new RFPs per week
Meet with sales and marketing to brainstorm content programs for RFPs
Write compelling story pitches for RFP responses/proposals
Answer questions for RFPs going through the pre-sale process, including building timelines, providing cost estimates and capabilities, etc.

Post-sale/Active:
Writing a/o editing articles and other original material, including display and social copy
Sourcing freelancers or other authors to produce new materials
Liaising with other in-house teams, writers, photographers, designers and production staff to negotiate and monitor timelines for stages in the production process
Manage internal deadlines across projects
Manage gathering of assets for client deliverables, including articles, videos, photos, display and social copy, and rich media units
Uploading content to our CMS
Work with third-party vendors on rich media unit setup and QA
Backcheck and QA client feedback
Proofread stories for accuracy, NBC style, client style
Proofread client-supplied content for NBC style
Get sign-off from Editorial Director of creative assets prior to delivery to client
Monitor story/campaign performance and optimize as needed to ensure delivery on content KPIs
Assist Audience Development Director with campaign reporting on an as-needed basis
Ongoing:
Weekly Brand Studio Status meeting
Daily Brand Studio Production Meeting
Ad-hoc RFP brainstorms / Presentations / Active client status calls
Update content road map and alert Edit and Social teams of upcoming content launches
Work with project manager on an ongoing basis to update project pipeline and archive campaigns

Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in journalism, editing or research required, with a focus on pitching and writing content.

• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and re-prioritize quickly, as needed
• Previous experience with Branded Content a plus
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications preferred
