Responsibilities
Join the Morning Joe team as a Coordinating Producer and drive the show's editorial focus. You will be the late evening editorial lead and contribute daily to producing exceptional and impactful political discussion.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Job Duties:
• Works with Executive Producer and or Senior Producers of Morning Joe to coordinate editorial/ news judgement
• Compile an editorial starters note with the key stories, sound, and angles the show will cover the next morning
• Research materials requested by the show hosts
• Coordinate with the desk on late-breaking stories
• Coordinate with Standards on guidance for show team for sensitive stories
• Coordinate with Rights and Clearances for guidance on use of materials
• Produce some guest segments that require more advanced planning.
• Originate story ideas
• Assists in coordination of cross-platform large news events and special coverage
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Must have at least 5 years of experience in live television, preferably cable news
• Thorough knowledge of current events, US politics, geopolitics, foreign policy and history
• Experience writing scripts at the network or cable level
Additional Job Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
