MSNBC is looking for an exceptional Associate Producer to join the Longform department. This department is responsible for the production of all MSNBC feature documentaries, documentary series and shorts.

As an associate producer, you will work directly with the VP of longform Acquisitions, Internal Departments, and outside production companies.

Responsibilities:

Main responsibility is to assist producers with varying projects, which include, but are not limited to:
• Helping coordinate longform schedule for VP
• Keeping a detailed working knowledge of long form programs and updating them when needed
• Screening and giving thoughts on incoming pitches and films
• Working with films to fulfill their archival needs
• Working with Rights and Clearances department to secure clearance of program material
• Assisting post department with delivery of films and series
• Helping create promotional material for broadcast, web, and social presence for each program

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• At least 2 years of research, production, and long form experience required
• At least 2 years of tape, field and editing experience

Desired Qualifications:
• Strong writing skills and sound news judgment is critical
• Knowledge of the documentary space
• Self-starter, eager to work on a small team, performing wide range of functions in a boundaryless way
• Ability to work in tandem with Producers, Editors, Directors and internal departments

Additional Job Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Los Angeles, CA.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
