The Render TD is responsible for supporting the rendering pipeline and optimizing the rendering process. As a Render TD at MPC, you will work as part of the team to provide render support and analysis. Daily responsibilities include troubleshooting render issues and working with fellow Render TDs to help plan and optimize render workflows. You will also work closely with artists, developers and production in other departments, investigating issues more thoroughly than a department artist to understand and flag underlying issues. This role would suite applicants who like puzzles and taking ownership of challenges through to resolution.

What You'll Do:
• Work closely with Lighting, Shading and FX Leads & TDs to optimize the Rendering process and help push complex shots and sequences through.
• Support and mentor the Rendering Technical Assistants (RTAs) who manage the render farm to improve awareness of current show Rendering issues.
• Help enforce ''Lighting and Rendering'' best practices and standardize Rendering configurations across all productions.
• Identify changing requirements, recommend and develop solutions in conjunction with the Software department.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:
• Technical Computer Graphics or Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience
• Proven production experience, along with experience or training in either animation or visual effects, is required.
• Good scripting skills with Python are a must and experience with C/C ++ would be also be an advantage.
• Experience with RSL, alternative production renderers such as Mental Ray or Arnold and compositing software such as Nuke is preferred
• Experience with Renderman and Katana and experience using modern pathtracers in a similar role
• Experience administering render or data resource
• Familiarity with a Linux and Shell environment
• A work history which demonstrates problem solving and analytical skills
• Good team work and communication skills
