The Editorial Lead is a key member of the VFX Editorial Department. Their core skills need to be level with if not higher than all Seniors within the group. Technical knowledge, pipeline awareness and interpersonal acumen need to be at the highest.

As a Lead, this individual is the primary support for the TechOps Supervisor and should be able to manage and maintain processes across projects as well as interact with the most senior groups within MPC. They are also expected to cover all responsibilities while the TechOps Supervisor is not available.

The Editorial Lead is a key member of the Technology Team. Their core skills required are:
• Excellent knowledge of the Editorial workflow
• Excellent knowledge of NLE (Non-linear Editing) technologies
• Interpersonal acumen at the highest level
• Good overall technical knowledge
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Supporting a diverse group of individuals, and multiple fast paced VFX projects, the Editorial Lead is an extension of a Senior VFX Editor, providing cohesion on workflow and standards across all levels.

The focus will be to assist the VFX Editorial team whilst liaising with the TechOps Supervisor, VFX Supervisors, HoDs, Producers, Clients and external vendors to improve ingestion/turnover, project workflow and ultimately smooth deliveries of all projects.

As Editorial Lead, you will liaise often with the Tech-Ops / Editorial teams across all sites and brands to review processes, tools, and workflows, and allow for deeper investigation into shared solutions. You will be the bridge between operators (VFX Editors), the InfraOps / Systems team(s).

Primary Responsibilities:
• Pick up problems and upcoming projects still to have direct resource assigned
• Provide first response cover/support due to illness/AL
• Support the Dept from a morale and social aspect
• Protect team members from unwarranted requests/negativity
• Troubleshoot problems that arise
• Learn new technology and applications to develop usable skills on other editing platforms
• Support production team and artist base with Editorial information and quality control throughout the VFX process
• Client liaison on behalf of facility for Editorial requests
• Aid in overseeing the VFX Editors, ensuring cohesion on workflows, best practices etc
• Support production team and artist base with Editorial information and quality control throughout the VFX process
• Ingest VFX on-set data from Client(s) and distribute to relevant departments
• Share information with Supervisors and Artists on latest edit context and how updates affect the creative process
• Distribute and log specific shot/cut information in multiple databases to match the latest client updates
• Update NLE systems with VFX shots for review by supervisors
• Run/Support internal dailies sessions for each discipline of the VFX process
• Run/Support review sessions between multiple sites and clients globally
• Deliver QuickTime, Hi Res formats (EXRs etc) and any other associated material to the Client(s) for approval/review/feedback
• Perform editing functions as required by the Production team

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skills:
• Excellent computer skills in Windows, MacOS, and Linux
• Excellent understanding of Truelight, RV, Avid, Cinesync and Premier, Heiro, Nuke Studio
• Excellent understanding of data management, video codecs, frame rates, resolutions and film formats
• Excellent understanding of Colour Science required
• Excellent Shell Scripting is an asset
• Thorough understanding of the editing process
• Experience:
• 5+ years' experience within a VFX Editorial team
• Excellent knowledge and experience in the VFX Industry
• Customer relation experience
• People management experience and team building skills
