Job Description
the Character Modelling Artist works in a build team to provide expert discipline Modelling knowledge and solutions that contribute to a Premium Hero Build.

Responsibilities:
• Provide expert Modelling knowledge to a Build Team
• Efficiently and effectively contribute to the creation of Premium Hero Build
• Address feedback from the Character Designer
• Share domain knowledge with other members of the Character Lab
• Contribute to discussion and testing of new software solutions
• Work to deadlines and inform production and their Build Team on progress
• Present work to peers in the Character Lab in the form of dailies and project presentations
• Creatively contribute to design discussions on Premium Hero Builds
• Work with the software and technology groups and advise new tools, workflow, software and equipment
• Up-to-date knowledge of VFX tools and emerging technologies

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skills:
• Expert working knowledge of 3D/2D software packages and pipelines
• Expert knowledge of the Modelling domain within Maya, zBrush, Mudbox
• Expert in complex, design-led asset creation
• General understanding of linux/unix-based operating systems
• Understanding of focal lengths, image planes, dailyAutomizer, 3DE
• Photo modelling in Maya. Polygonal modelling, MPC Camera tools
• Ability to navigate and use MPCs proprietary asset toolset
• Ability to use Maya's UV editor and create UV coordinates to MPC standards
• Ability to do internet searches for references to help guide the modelling process
• Create a speedtree project, use speedtree importer, sculpt trunk, manage LODs
• Create replicatable iterative dailies that allow your work to be reviewed effectively
• Sculpting to reference, sculpting with stencils, sculpting to colour maps. Extracting and releasing ZDISP
• Photo modelling in Maya. Using the layout puppet, using FACET, creating cloth meshes, understanding of focal lengths, image planes, dailyAutomizer, 3DE. To be capable of modelling a human to MPC standards
• Decimating, importing and aligning data. Naming and releasing. Packaging
• Ability to operate Zbrush and the decimation master function to reduce topology
• Maya modelling, checking requirements, checking intersections, keeping it quaded, snapping and projecting
• Ability to produce polygonal modelling in Maya
• Ability to operate zremesher in Zbrush and Maya's quaddraw function
• Creating models that respect their physical construction Generation of good hierarchies and naming schemes. Using kalimeshverifyso
• Ability to use copyAsset, knowledge of current naming and workflow practise
• Polygonal modelling in Maya. Ability to construct an MHP, model hierarchy package
• Knowledge how to create package variations by creating visibility variations using visibility keys
• Ability to create 2D map stencil in painting software and to be able to load stencils into Zbrush
• Photo lineups modelling in Maya. Polygonal modelling knowledge and how to work with creases. Understanding of MPC modelling naming convention and hierarchy and grouping as well as UV coordinates
• Create polygonal modelling, zremesh scan data in Zbrush
• Ability to update a model with additional supporting loops and creases. Gather and release knowledge
• Ability to select and delete loops from the model
• Ability to gather and qc a model, fix any intersecting surfaces or unwanted modelling pieces floating in the scene
• Creativity, ability to iterate, interpretation, love of art, Attention to detail, form, shape. Excellent artistic eye
• Advanced eye for form and detail. Great understanding of muscular and skeletal anatomy, high resolution sculpting ability
• Understanding of mechanical engineering and science fiction design language, Kitbashing. Extrapolation between 2D and 3D
• Understanding of facial anatomy and the Facial Action Coding System. Ability to break down complex performances and expressions into FACS shapes.

Experience in Film VFX production demonstrating a strong focus on complex character work
