Overview

Summary Provides the prevention, care, treatment and rehabilitation, under the supervision of a licensed physician and the Certified/Licensed Minor League Head Athletic Trainer for all athletic injuries and illnesses incurred by Milwaukee Brewer minor league players. Provides open lines of communication between the minor league affiliate manager, coaches, coordinator-minor league medical and MBBC front office personnel of all injuries and medical conditions of MBBC players at the affiliate. Informs Head Athletic Trainer, Coordinator - Minor League Medical, and/or VP – Medical Operations, Health, and Safety of all medical treatments, evaluations, or exams performed on minor league and/or major league rehab players.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assist in inventory control and budgeting of medical equipment and supply purchased or owned by the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
• Assist in providing athletic training room rules and medical policies for players according to MBBC Polices. Ensure copies of rules and policies are distributed to managers, coaches, and front office staff.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical information and medical files on players and staff in the MLB Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
• Assist in conditioning program set up by Strength & Conditioning Coach and/or Coordinator - Minor League Strength & Conditioning.
• Assist in the completion of all medical treatment and individual rehabilitations before workouts, pre and post-game. Be present at all workouts and games
• Maintain athletic training room supplies and modalities in neat orderly working condition.
• Assist with transportation of players to and from ballpark and for physician appointments.
• Liaison between VP – Medical Operations, Health, and Safety, Major League Head Athletic Trainer, and Minor League Head Athletic Trainer with regards to major league players, physician visits, etc.
• Liaison between Coordinator - Minor League Medical and Minor League Head Athletic Trainer with regards to minor league players and staff members.
• Conduct bi-monthly phone calls to players, potential on-site visits to players, instructional league in Phoenix, AZ, Dominican Republic assignment as directed by MBBC as well as winter program coverage as an athletic trainer assigned by MBBC during the off season.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Current National Athletic Trainers Association (National Certification), and in good standing
• Must be licensed as an athletic trainer in states of assigned team and Arizona (if applicable)
• Ability to draft written and oral communication to Player Development, Medical and Baseball Operations and Front Office Staff.
• Is organized and willing to perform administrative tasks effectively.
• Ability to stay current with practices and procedures in the Athletic Training Field and adapt skillset as needed.
• Has the desire to grow and learn to benefit themselves and MBBC

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and two years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Masters in Athletic Training preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Electronic medical records (EMR)Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Spanish speaking preferred

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to [100] pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.

Work Hours

During Spring Training and during the baseball season, this position requires 80-90 hours per week; off-season it requires-30-40 hours per week. Must be available on 24-hour basis for emergencies. This position will reside in Phoenix, AZ during the off-season.
