Visual effects Lead (FX Lead)

Mikros Animation is a global CGI animation studio located in Paris, Montreal, Los Angeles, Bangalore and London, dedicated to feature films and episodic content. Since its inception, Mikros Animation has always put creativity and CG artistry at the heart of its animation and production activities, allowing our artists to work across a great variety of stories with a high level of stylized craft. So far, Mikros Animation has contributed to ten released feature animations and to numerous high-quality animated series, for the world's best-known animation studios, either as creative studio, line producer or executive producer. Mikros Animation has also produced more than 250 hours of programming, broadcast by notable channels including Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, TF1, France TV, Gulli, M6, Gloob, and Super RTL. Our animated episodic content airs and streams globally, in over 180 countries.

Context

Mikros Animation is currently preparing several full CG feature films.  

We are looking for FX Leads to join our great team!  

Under the responsibility of the FX Supervisor, the FX Leads will work and be the guarantors of the production of the different types of FX present in the film, respecting the artistic vision of the director and the quality expectations of the project.

Responsibilities  
• Apply and have the FX Artists apply the aesthetic, technical and methodological guidelines defined beforehand by the FX Supervisor.
• Be a driving force in proposing good practices and approaches necessary to produce effects
• Ensures that the director's overall creative vision is respected and the visual requirements are met.
• Listening to its teams in order to identify and address potential technical problems and collaborate with the teams concerned to resolve them.
• Ensure compliance with the quotas established by the FX Supervisor and the Production Coordinator (his own and his team's)
• Bring up any technical and/or human problems that could hinder the achievement of the effects on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.

Qualifications

Required skills...  
• Maya & Houdini software expertise
• Knowledge of one or more of the following: Katana / Arnold / Nuke
• Technical problem solving skills and abilities  
• Previous team management experience required  
• Creative sense and ability to understand artistic direction  
• Knowledge of effects techniques such as particles, smoke, fire, dust, explosions and fluids 
• Previous experience in Animation or Live Action feature film required
• Work ethic based on dynamism and collaboration 
• Good level of English imperative 

And appreciated assets... 
• Experience in 2D and/or stylized FX
• Knowledge of Python/Mel
