Position at Industrial Light & Magic

The Immigration Assistant works with the HR Team in providing comprehensive immigration support to our studio population. This in-house, part-time (20 hrs/week) role is critical in ensuring TFWs and their dependents maintain legal status to work, access healthcare and study. The ideal candidate will be client-focused, proactive, collaborative, and emphasize communication and efficiency to execute in this highly detail-oriented role.

What You'll Do
Work Permit Application & Renewal Processes
• Coordinate with the Immigration Specialist and HR Team in updating our tracking system and communications as needed
• With legal support where appropriate, determine best pathway for application given candidate profile, job role, wage, and time available (to start date, expiry of current document, dependent needs, other contingencies including travel and health care requirements)
• Assist in the preparation of LMIAs and Labour Market Benefits Plan (under Global Talent Stream) and Labour Market Transition Plans
• Maintain detailed case files for each TFW to enable communication with partner stakeholders
• Prepare and update reports as required by Service Canada, Global Talent Stream Group, Integrity Services Branch, and other government agencies

Permanent Residency Application Process (BC PNP and Express Entry)
• Assist the Immigration Specialist in preparing BC PNP and Express Entry forms and letters
• Open and maintain detailed case files in partnership with the Immigration Specialist
• Track submission deadlines and coordinate with employees re Work Permit and PR applications

What We're Looking For
• Ability to work on a part-time basis (20hrs/week) for the duration of the contract (6 months)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in LMIA, NAFTA, ICT, BC PNP and Express Entry
• ICCRC qualification is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
• Thorough knowledge of Global Talent Stream, Labour Market Impact Assessments, NAFTA-based work permits, Intra-Company Transfer and Open work permits
• Thorough knowledge of BC Provincial Nominee Program (permanent residency pathway)
• Demonstrated continuous learning and maintenance of latest and upcoming changes to immigration landscape
• Strong emphasis on client-centered approach with proactive, professional communication
• Proficiency with Google apps, Microsoft Office and similar programs
• Excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Proven ability to provide innovative troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, diplomatic, and professional manner
• Nice to have:
• Working knowledge of Feature film production / VFX environment preferred
• Preferably licensed or graduate of an immigration program
