THE JOB

In the role of Senior Engineer II, you will work for the Entry SRE team, in our Scottsdale office,
on critical systems that are used for the delivery and scanning of digital tickets. These systems are essential to Ticketmaster's business, providing solutions for clients such as the NFL and some of the biggest venues on the planet.

Under the Entry SRE team, you will be responsible for owning the monitoring and operation of systems in production and lead team initiatives for the implementation of SRE practices across the software engineering teams. You rely on you experience to identify complex technical issues through monitoring, debugging, research and investigation while delivering high quality tools and support the operation of systems in production.

You will represent the team as a technical expert and work closely with the Product Management and Engineering on feature requirements and planning. An important part of this role is to anticipate team needs and guide & mentor individuals in order to influence the culture
and drive continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
• Implement and maintain monitoring capabilities for visibility into system failures for proactive response to availability incidents, while take proactive steps to avoid issues or
outages
• 24x7 oncall responsibilities for major incident response, ability to lead advanced troubleshooting across the stack in complex failure scenarios.
• Provide day-to-day support on configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of systems in production.
• Define availability SLAs and supporting SLOs; analyze performance against defined metrics and build capabilities to meet targets.
• Leverage Infrastructure Capabilities, Automation and Software to build reliability and scalability into products.
• Ensure that teams adhere to SRE best practices, including improved scalability, performance, reliability, observability and speed to market
• Interact with Product Managers and Engineering teams
• Mentor engineers
• Inspire and guide developers by demonstrating ideas or concepts
• Help coordinate the effective use of the team ensuring optimization of overall team
• Seek to build relationships and partners with internal and external team members
• Help build consensus

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)
• 5+ years of development experience
• 5+ years of experience w/ Agile methodologies
• 3+ years of experience in DevOps
• Strong systems engineering and administration skills
• Experience with monitoring tools as Prometheus
• Experience with messaging systems such as Apache Kafka
• Experience with production monitoring
• Experience working in an SOA environment
• Experience working with cloud based systems such as AWS
• Working knowledge of one or more database products (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, Mongo)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with remote team members
