THE JOB

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and self-driven Engineering manager to join the core engineering team. This team is leading the tech transformation with a goal of re-platforming business-critical capabilities as a core set of domain-aligned microservices and data streams.

Now is an exciting time to join the team and make a real impact as we work to modernize and globalize our tech platforms. If you are the sort of person that enjoys solving complex challenges, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and has the desire to embrace and chart new technological paths forward, this is the role for you.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Be a hands-on engineering manager, working with a distributed team of talented engineers to help build our next generation ticketing systems.
• Lead the team that powers mission-critical capabilities in our core ticketing ecosystem. The role does not require you to be a hands-on coder every day, but you should have the desire and ability to do so, when needed.
• As a senior leader in the core engineering group, you will help improve and mature our engineering practice and be a coach and mentor to other engineers on the team.
• Be at the forefront of our enterprise modernization efforts, help steer the team to overcome complex engineering challenges and make efficient technical decisions.
• Continuously improve our Domain-Driven Design practice, help the team become better practitioners of DDD.
• Foster innovation and translate research and prototypes into highly scalable working software.
• Work with Product and other Engineering leads to help shape the product roadmap, define goals and deliverables.
• Help establish core engineering principles and lead by the example of your work.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, building and scaling cloud-based SaaS products with a deep desire to stay hands-on.
• 2+ years as an engineering manager or technical leader, directly managing engineers.
• Big picture thinker, you are comfortable making technology decisions that impact critical business capabilities and engineering teams.
• Extensive experience in building, scaling and maintaining Event-driven systems and Microservices for large e-commerce platforms.
• Polyglot with exceptional programming skills in at least one modern programming language.
• DevOps enthusiast, practicing Continuous Delivery. You know what it takes to release code to production, multiple times a day.
• Comfortable working in a remote environment and with globally distributed teams.
• You appreciate and embrace transparency and see value in providing and receiving feedback.
